Some joker has brought up the important issue of ownership of threads.

Quote:

The thread is considered to be owned by the person who created it.

I believe this brings up important issues of intellecual property ownership in Stars! Not only threads but stars race designs are the intellectual property of their creators unless explicitly donated to the public domain.

In line with the original US copyright laws http://earlyamerica.com/earlyamerica/firsts/copyright/
Quote:

The Copyright Act gave protection for a period of 14 years, with the right of renewal for another 14 years.

Before the copyrights expire we will lobby for the extension of them over and over again till copyrights extend 80+ years. Just like Disney, we must protect our mickey mouse race designs.

I think it is clear to every intelligent person how this system is for the public good, it will stimulate better threads and better race designs. Knowing that long after your dead a corporation will profit on your intellectual property is a key requirement to creativity and progress. If you believe otherwise you are dumb. Not meaning to be rude, just telling it like it is.

Viewing most creativityless 100 times asked questions like "what is planets max growth?" as intellectual property? Shocked Laughing

Maybe US got barbaric laws that actually allow it. Surprised Luckily i am one of the majority of our planets population ... to whom the mad laws of US simply dont apply.

As for my personal opinion ... Ron owns the board and so everytime we press "submit" button here we donate him explicit permission to publish, modify, delete and censor anything we wrote here. Razz

I have to agree with Kotk, Ron made all theeffort to put up the board on his time and money and we submit all our ideas etc to this bord so by logic Ron owns everything we post here.

I agree.... the forum is Ron's...
If someone is worried about property rights concerning an idea then they have no business submitting the idea to a public forum.

Personally, when I submit a game scenario idea, I fully expect it to bounce off of the great minds that are out there and come back better Wink

Ron does not own the minds, but is facilitating the exchange of ideas, and any ideas which are proferred are his if he wishes to use them.

Music is submitted to public radio stations all the time, yet still belongs to the corporations.

People, Stars today is a dieing fringe game! We don't have the following of big $$$ games like Age of Empires and Doom.

What we need is big corperations to sell our threads and race designs. Then we can have game renamed to Star$! and celebrities to convince people it is cool.

With a modern interface like the Statsbuilder game and slut-wear girls like Britney Spears shown playing the game on TV, we can get all sorts of fresh blood groupies into the game!

Perhaps we can even get a Stars! movie along the lines of Mortal Kombat and Wing Commander movies. (With Greg Vabooboo as the hero, and Dr. MLaub as evil villian)

You know, everybody bags on Wing Commander. But in spite of all its flaws, it...um...okay, it still kinda sucked.

Yes Bar if enough stars related or circular otherwise. Did not intend Academy as no strategy on playing game, thought was posting into Bar.
