But still a pain in the arse when building newly advanced ship designs all the way through. Doesn't stop Omega's and AMPs being twice the cost either. 
Hmmm. Do planetary installations (defences / scanners) become twice the price if you only just have the required tech with BET? Just a musing that occured to me.

Terraforming, defenses and scanners all have set costs which don't change with tech advances,
