names
{
A - Aurelians
B - Borg
Dc - Decepticons
Dj - Djurids
Gb - Goober
Gd - GoldDigger
K - Kotosians
R - Runabout
X - Species X
}

status quo may make unhappy
{
A, R, K may not enjoy being slaughtered

Dj likely wants active hand in 'revenge'

Gb likely will turn on Borg in future but unlikely to have Gd or X backing up which means bad shape

Dc either wants to leave game or play (haven't heard from him in long time)

Gd, X likely want chance to win without big backstab

Borg does not like requiring others to backstab to have chance at winning
}

private info
{
Borg have policy of confidentiality of others private communications. Yet also must share what believe others would not mind shared and useful.

Chapter 1

NAP
{
Believe no NAP between B and Gb. Borg was agreeable to 5 year but Goober wanted till 2460, negotiations never went further
}

Main
{
B policy of not suprise attacking even if no NAP. (joys of extra honourable personna)

Gb may wish to attack B as otherwise future situation likely poor.

A+R+K may wish cooperation with Gb, though with likely 3 NAPs already broken trust will be difficult

X noting Gb set X to neutral, minefield collision likely will be setting Gb to neutral

Possible Gb will also lose friend status from Gd, possible hostillities between { Gb } and { Gd and/or X }

Likely B will face attack from Gb as just put 'Kick me' sign on B behind

Fleeing B ships may begin sweeping Gb minefields as part of escape/survival

B may begin helping Dj and/or Dc, A now unlikely to help Dj

Other wars may break out immediately as big North vs South conflict
}

Chapter 2

Analysis
{
Borg, Goober likely superpowers

Others may try to be lower key in wars and hope to take advantage if superpowers go to war

North likely stronger but South have mineral fountain
}

Possible Mistakes
{
Attack on Dc by R, K though easy and successful may have been unprofitable as in same time Gb, B seem to have grabbed much more empty in centre than R + K gained through war

Gb breaking NAP with Dj, gate in attack though strategically successful was likely much more diplomatically expensive. Some planets+assistance Gb would have gained from others was lost. End game may be hardest price diplomatically.

Possible this set of postings by B may be viewed later as Borgs big mistake. After game can discuss in more detail reasons why.
}

Others
{
Opinions of others welcome.

Would be nice to know if Dc wishes to play or leave game. Transfered some old penn scans to Dc so at least not completely blind to situation. Perhaps Dc can give to Dj if wishes to leave game. [Edit: Somehow didn't save game after set of old scanner transfers to Dc]
}

Refer messages re Diplomacy 2438. I accepted a 5 year NAP with you and was trying to negotiate a minimum term on top of that upto 2460. As far as I am concerened we have a 5 year NAP in place.

X set to neutral 2458 as per our mutual NAP agreement. They were notified and warned that they had fleets headed into Goober minefields. They were also asked if they would like their status to be reset to friend. No response receieved. Currently, according to the terms of our agreement the X our NAP remains intact and a 3 year n game notice of cesation needs to be issued to end it. o such message has been issued by either party.

R's broke their NAP with me. Not the other way around.

K's never had an NAP with the GooberLoons. The only reason I attacked the K's was because of the big fleet they sent towards my worlds.

Goober.

Borg not genocidal or warmongers
{
Any including current enemies may ask/join collective
}

IF others at some point want game over due to see position hopeless or other games/real life busy THEN can vote game over

Greetings.

Seems we have a lot to catch up on.

I'm surprised to hear talk of the end of the game.
Without assuming the actions of those that have been attacked I would think that Gd and X have enough power to be able to swing the endgame in different directions.

The game hasn't really got going for me yet.
I'd like to continue, even if it means I'm the next to be splatted.

An interesting way of going about things by the Borg.

Telling the other top player that if they don't make some friends soon then they will be in big trouble.

What do you plan to do if nobody else lays down their cards ?

"end game", in contrast to "early game", "mid game" -> time for major plays coming down rather than end of game

Borg working on making game interesting. Part of honour personna is looking after interests of others even when own may be hurt.

Goober believes NAP in place (Borg had thought Goober meant 2460 as precondition to 5 year, Goober had thought accepted 5 year). Borg offered Goober chance to cancel NAP and attack, but Goober prefers continued NAP for now.

Of course GoldD, X can vastly influence game. Borg well aware of Robber Barrons. Borg list names in alphabetical order rather than for showing order of influence. In crazy game like this even possible Borg and Goober will join together in mutual defence to face aggression of rest.

Borg trying for interesting end game or vote over otherwise

Current diplomatic summary:

A+R+K
{
quiet, perhaps plots turning, or watch and wait, or hoping to be taken out.
}

Borg,GoldD,Goober,X
{
talk nice, perhaps plots turning

Goober getting married soon (congrats again), happy to see game voted over

X set up well but never got a chance to really play, wants game to continue
}

Dc, Dj
{
fairly quiet but still around, wants unknown
}

Suggested proceed:

See what plots brew in next few turns. Borg will focus on Aurelians as prime enemy (who wants to fight) unless backstabbed. Possible someone/group will non-backstab but give notice of wanting war against Borg.

If we get desire instead to quit from majority then can...

BUT give other option

IF Borg manage to grow strong enough as challenge for rest AND unanamous desire/approval from others THEN
{
Borg collective taken over by strong willed Borg Queen or assimulated Klingon or Alien King and switch from honourable industrialist TO xenophobic warmonger

IF Aurelians, Dc still around THEN will require A to give orbital coloniser to Dc for proceed, and Dc becomes part of Empire (perhaps strong willed alien/klingon taking over collective)

Dj would be given choice of initial 'stop the Borg' or later 'stop the Goober' personnas he has played if still around
}

I find it most likely that the Borg post are just trying to turn people against each other in hopes that people will leave him alone. It's easy to see really, him bringing up `problems` with the relationships of other races, yet saying the he would ally with anyone thats willing...

Lack email addresses for R+K. Sent every email to Sotek (who is suppose to be allies with both) hoping he would forward.

starsborg@yahoo.com email me so I can email U.

From Borg limited view, felt like Sotek was saving self for good end game fight while both of U were getting ready to quit.

From discussion of Decepticons getting hammered, recall how U said "looking for a challenge", and that Dec got hammered because no defences, etc. Now Borg seeing important planets with no defences or setup to lift pop out of way from Goober packets despite what should have been many years of warning.

...

On a side note was one minor accidental combat with K forces last turn due to Borg rushing turn and sending minesweeper which had previous job of keeping shipping lanes open. Borg also mucked up a combat in Aurelian territory as well with most of fleet going 1 ly away from battle.

If U wish to stick in game and create challenge rather than drop then say so+do!

I'm back now.

Only repeating stuff already said.
As my race was designed for long game I *have* to vote to go on.
But if not, then I'll happily go off and play some duels.
So I'm not going to get upset if nobody else wants to play.

If we stop then we can all discuss what we think happened and why it happened like that !

I'll second Mazda's post.
I'm sorry about not getting turns in btw, it's been a bit hectic as I'm in the middle of getting married.

Taking Mazda and Alien's posts as the equivalent of vote emails...

Similar to previous discussion I'm getting roughly the same signal mix. A few non or slow responses, a few ready to toss the towel in now, and a few who want to continue, and a few who will just go along with the majority.

So. I see the following options at this point since I assume *something* will continue going.

1. Races that want to drop, drop. Everyone else keeps going. If the remaining races want to work out a modified schedule I'll adjust. They can work out a delay to continued hostilities among themselves as well.

2. I put up a single request for replacements and see if any of the players that will to drop can be subbed for. Beyond that things will continue per option #1. (If players favor option #2 I'll contact those that I think want to drop to verify they wish to be replaced.)

3. If someone wants the MM work, and the other players are favorable to it, I'll allow someone to run multiple races.

- Kurt
