Hello Smile As Hunnuli has already said we are new here and i wish to learn some things. Currently the only multiplayer games i've played is through our network with each other. I want to know how it works when you're doing it over a couple of days. Do you send it by email(this is my best guess) or some other method? If so then about how long do you estimate this game will last? Also what if I can't check my turn every day like for some reason we'd go on vacation? I most likely will decide not to join but i'm asking these questions just in case. Also I'm curious as to why more than 1 immunity isn't allowed. Is this to stop hyper expanders? About the map: is that center area in that bmp empty? Sorry if I'm irritating you with all my questions but I am a NB after all Razz

P.S. Woot! First post! Razz

It might be best if you and your brother didn't play in the same game, that way you can help each other, and there won't be any question about pre game alliances.

Having a second pair of eyes to look over a turn can be very helpful.

*cracks knuckles* but don't you know it is always fun for the elder to thrash on the younger Laughing.

Yes that could be a problem however I am used to pounding him if I get the chance to do so.(If a computer attacks him and I may very well join in if I can mop up the computer afterwords, just a matter of seeing whom I could mop up easier, if it is my bro whom is weaker I help him, if his enemy is Weaker I help his enemy.)

One thing we do tend to do is make our hab ranges different so if we do start intercolinizing or anything there won't be much fighting amoung planets.

Also another instance where I may step in is if he gets backstabbed, however I would make sure I would get something in return( maybe access to some of his prt/lrt specific items).

Part of the reason playing with my bro would be fun is cause we would blantantly backstab one another for the fun of it Razz. If you do it to people whom would take offence though it could hurt you in the long run.

Anyways, I have begun playing around with some races, lets see if I can beat super to submiting race files Twisted Evil

Than maybe you'd be better on the lookout for a team game. Some Stars! games are specificly setup for players to create their races so they are relying on their partners.

I'd say yes, 24h is the most common ... Either a gen every 24h or a gen at the same time every day (or sooner if all turns are in before gen time) ...
Some games switch to 48h per turn later on when the game becomes more complicated.

Hm ... days? Wink

Some hosts do it by email, but by far the largest part of games is played through AutoHost. More info can be found here, or just ask around at this forum.

In general Stars! games tend to last somewhere between 3 months upto a year (those are the real monsters!).
This game (Battlefield) I don't know, the host might have an idea. Probably a few months ...
There is also the possibility to Blitz, thats playing a game in a few hours. Played via IRC, check the #Stars! channel on the Starlink.org network I think the Cricinfo2.LO.UK.Starlink.org server is up ... I've never played a Blitz, somebody with more experience might help you out with more info ...

You can always try to find a temporary replacement. A player you trust and can do your turns for you. That could be Hunnuli for example if not in the same game unless it's an ally of course. (But might be you go on vacation together. Grin)
