I think we may be running into the classic problem that will inevitably cause most concept games to die early: Too many rules. It makes the game far more complicated than necessary with too many rules. Better to stick w/ as few rules as possible. ie. Players can pick most any race they want. However, on a team it's best that the whole team be designed to maximize the strength of the team while also allowing for each person's wants. The goal of each player should be to make themselves stronger at the expense of the opposing parties. Otherwise you'll never hold the interest of players. That said, it is not really necessary that each team MUST have an AR. It is highly recommended. A race w/ highly efficient mines (ie. 18+/3-6/16+) and TT can also do very well. IMO, you could keep IT and CA as part of the game. Just make sure that only the mercs can be one, and only the teams can have the other. I would recommend IT for the mercs, and CAs on the teams. That way the mercs and teams will essentially be dependent upon each other to some extent. This will lead to an uneasy peace at times, and times of truce at others. At the same time, the Mercs can never ally for the long term. There will be times, however, when it will benefit the mercs to team up to beat back a team or two. With 4-5 per team and 2 mercs, the mercs will not be in the best logistic position overall. At the same time, to distribute minerals and other goods, the teams will desire IT gates. Contracts should be limited only by the stipulations of the parties agreeing. At the same time, contracts between Mercs and teams, or mercs and mercs may not be indefinite as Only 1 team or 1 merc may win the game. I suggest that the observation race be WM w/ pen scanners. That way, the host gets a good view of everything right from the start. Host race should take Elect cheap, keep everything else expensive, build a shload of scouts, and not do much other than observe... There are limited planets, and you really want to maximize the competition between them. Neutral worlds will just be annoying for all parties as they will essentially always be targets.

When you say "WM w/ pen scanners" I hope you really meant to say "JOAT with or without NAS", as what you just described is how a JOAT gains their information. Scouts + Elect = Happy JOAT.

Well I'm interested.
I've played about half a dozen PBEMs, and countless blitzes(althou most of the blitzes were years ago) So would most likely be best suited as a merc or commander.

I agree. You could present a decent and interesting challenge.
I look forward to potentially facing you.

Well, the two interested experts, including myself are interested given certain universe conditions that are conducive to reduced MM and speed of getting teh game to maximum action and keeping each side maximally competitive.
At the same time, most advanced players are more interested in smaller, more crowded universes that offer lots of challenge.

I'm in if there's still room
I like the team concept, unsure about the other rules but willing to try anything once
I consider myself a beginning player, esp in the realm of race creation. I don't like taking the same old things off the suggestion boards but instead like trying new things.
Either Alien or Predator is fine but Alien is preferred (loved the Zerg in Star Craft!)

I think this is a dead thread. I don't think the game host has visited the page in a while.
