I equate cheaters to be in the same league as other criminals in the world.

Not to start anything here (I do condemn cheating), but to compare a cheater (in a game...) with other criminals (murderers, rapists etc.) goes a bit far IMO. The latter do a bit more damage. Let's just refer to cheating as childish? Rolling Eyes

I think he might be operating along the lines that if someone has no personal honor and sense of fair play "in a game" how can one expect to see the same from them where there are greater stakes?

More than one place from which to look at such a situation.

Cheaters are no criminals. They are just bad playmates.

I once did use minimum damage trick when it was known but there was no consensus if it is cheating or if it is not. I did not make any special designs ... i just split up my 100 omega nubs. It turned good game into heated discussion and i felt sorry.

After then I have used any questionable features only in games where they are explicitly allowed or against opponents who have usaed some trick first against me.

Fair enough and well stated. I'm willing to give you a 2nd chance once your ban is over.

Surprised
Thank you. I didn't think I'd ever get the opportunity to play you again. Playing you again (and hopefully beating you this time, or at least playing it safe and allying with you) will be an honour.

...
Promise me that you won't play SD though, you put down so many minefields as an IS that I couldn't face even trying to get through... I'd hate to see what you could do with THREE types of minefield at your disposal Dead Maybe it'd be safer to ask you to mentor me instead Laughing

Laughing No promises about not playing SD. However, you'd 'really' hate it if I play IT and you're on the wrong side. I tend to get absolutely everywehre that's unexpect as IT Smile

How many posts do I need to make to gain "Conscientious Objector" status?

Hmmm... I don't see a smilie, so have to assume you're serious.

There is no "Conscientious Objector" rank. See the FAQ for the different ranks available.

Sometimes its hard to tell if sarcasm is used.. sometimes the smileys let us know whether we're kidding or being serious

Like: You are a serious lazy bum Laughing

This should be taken lightly, because the smiley is there.

But: You are a serious lazy bum.

This one looks more like the guy isn't joking around.

But I use them all the time for no reason, so who I am to talk Rolling Eyes

I like smileys. And they like me. I have never been offended by nor offended a smiley. Rolling Eyes
Some people hate smileys. On a musician's forum one person accused me of using "snide" smileys all the time. I used mostly Very Happy to try to convey joking or happy mood. Yet this guy was offended. Go figure. Some users on that forum refuse to use smileys for some philosophical reason. They instead use the old style like <BG> or <VBG> types.
I am about to give up on smileys. I think if I want to express humorous intent I am just going to start posting links to .wav or .mp3 files on that forum. Very Happy

I apparently am flunking all courses in Starfleet Academy Dunce and must be getting performance evaluations in the range of 1.0 instead of 4.0 since I've been a cadet forever Wall Bash. I'd be better off going back to warrant officer ranks - at least I'd have the respect and adoration of the lowly enlisted class Sherlock .

At least you're in your third year of Cadet training at the moment. The higher you go, the longer it takes.

Ah well - eventually I may reach the lowly rank of ensign - whereupon most officers shall be able to look down upon me. However, perhaps someday I may aspire to the rank of junior grade lieutenant before I die - if Stars is around that long - or I am. Smile

Can I have a volunteer to drive a car at Ron when he's least expecting it...

...just so I can push him aside at the last moment and save his life, thus gaining commendation and valuable promotion? Very Happy

I have not given anyone promotions based on personal friendship, or other non-Stars! criteria.

All special ranks I have bestowed are based on that individual's contribution to the Stars! community and/or Stars! AutoHost / HWF.

My personal friendship with Hetzer and interaction with him in another game (Titans of Steel) has led to him receiving a special 'avatar' honoring him and letting others learn of Titans of Steel (a great game), but has not affected his rank points.
