When I started playing Stars I purchased my CD off of a friend who had bought the two CD set. I have never had any of the books that came along with game. I am looking for hard copies or better yet a digital format. I have made copies of the rule book but I can not find Tech book with the components. Does anyone know if there is a digital format for both?

In the help-file is a componentlist, and in the game you can press F2 for the technologybrowser.

If you have the time, you might also have a look at http://www.starsfaq.com/ , lots of info there!

Thanks Sinla. I have used that particular web site and a couple others. I will dig a little deeper on them to see if there was something I missed.

Books? Confused When I bought the game I only got a cd and on it a PDF file ... which you can find here if that interests you. It's a 3.12 MB download.
There might be more on the cd, but can't remember right now, can't find the cd either. Grin Just happened to have the PDF uploaded for someone some time ago ...

Eh now, you got a CD!? Oh, we'd have killed for a CD, let me tell you. When I got the game I had to browse to the web site usin' nothing but a browser I'd constructed myself out of old Mosaic pieces, download a 3 megabyte self extracting file over a 14.4 baud modem, and I didn't even get sound or even a help file! Oh yes, we'd have been in the right lap o'luxury if we'd had one of your fancy CDs!

LOL. Just pulled out my first copy, 2.00b. I didn't even have a internet conection at the time. Some friends and I bought a 4 pack, and one of them copied the 1.3 meg self-extracting zip on a AOL v2.0 floppy he just got in the mail. Wink

This part of the readme just makes me laugh:

Memory requirements:
4MB RAM
8MB is preferred

Now that is exactly what I am looking for. It has the Tech and the Hard Copy book in it. My thanks Micha. I knew one of you old timers Laughing out there would have what it.
