I might have got out of sync here but I posted the following in the new game announcements:

This is a game based on the survivor game show series where the last one in is the winner. Basically, it is normal Stars! except that after a period of time and at set intervals thereafter the lowest scoring player is eliminated ( Banned from uploading on AH ). game will be on AH. J patch.

It will be a fast paced game with one turn per weekday. No stops other than AH crashes or significant holiday periods.

It will be normal, medium, distant, accbbs, PPS. No pre game alliances, all players set to enemy at all times. In game communication to all only.

I would like as many as possible. With 15/16 eliminations commence at 2430 and every 5 years thereafter; 13/14 2440 and every 5; 10-12 2450 and every 5.

If a player drops but still has a higher score they will remain 'in play' and could still win I suppose !

This is a fun game concept, any standard welcome. It'll only take about 20 weeks and definitely finishes around 2500.

I might sugest a limitation on CA as a CA will definately win and almost everyone will take a CA.

Yes, sure ban CA-s (too powerful) and IT-s (too easy to vulture on outkicked races).

The two difficulties with the concept that i see:
1) that players start to drop out too early.
2) one can get lucky with weak neighbours and just grow out of hand without any military efforts because rest are too demotivated to compete.

Say... you are #9/16 and year is 2430. Do you play on if you know that you will be kicked out at 2460 and your neighbours already discuss how they divide your territory? Okay you can raise to #8 or #7 and so survive until 2470.

The other problem is that the distribution of homeworlds and planets is never too homogenous and so there are always some dense places with lot of players. In normal game the dense spot weak nations can cooperate and so have hope to compete the sparse location nations, in here the sparse territory guy gains initial lead thanks to his territory first and then turn into fat vulture eating one after other these outkicked regions.

I think this would bear becoming a regular "series" of games, just like the TV show (or so I'm told - never watch commercial tripe like that). I suspect this will be a popular series of games like the Childrens' Hour of Science or Rabid Weasels in a Box. If you feel like the extra work, you could start a new series at 2450 in the previous series. This way, the bottom-enders who already were "voted" out have an opportunity to try again (or they could anyway if they have time). You could eventually have an "all-stars" game involving the winners of the series. You could make all the games ranked and even set them by rankings (Stars Survivor "Beginner", Stars Survivor "Low Intermediate", and the heart-wrenching, gut-tearing Stars Survivor "Advanced").

I think as a host past and present, that this would be a great opportunity for beginners and advanced players alike. Hope you get a lot of interest in it! I'll probably play in one once I get through some of the other games I'm in the middle of...

I disagree. There's nothing to be learned from this game. If you manage to get a lucky draw you'll grow big. If not, you even don't have a chance to cooperate with your neighbours to become strong as an alliance, because you'll be eliminated without ANY Nana nana bubu chance to even resist Boxing the occupier. That's no game, but lottery. Not the best, the LUCKIEST will win. Yuck Yuck Yuck !

An alternative variation could be to follow the "survivor" series more closely.
Have objectives to be met every decade or 15 years. The one's who has the "objective" is immune from being kicked out of the game. Then everyone has to vote who to kick out.
This would place a greater emphasis on diplomacy. (which I like but it takes time doesn't it! Smile )
