While tinkering with my Stars.exe file using StarEd, i noticed a few things.
1) The max # of resources any ship(ship and components) can cost is around 32,500. After that, the cost goes negative.
2) The max Armor and ship/starbase can have is 60,000. Again, after that it goes negative.
3) The max minerals is also around 32,500. And yes, after that it goes negative.
I did not check these numbers to be exact but they are close. Here is my question: Is it possible to surpass these limits? If anyone has any info about this pls reply. Thank you.

Not without recompiling the program to using larger numbers.
edit: err woops...forgot the "out" in "without".

So what do you get if you build a ship that costs negative amounts of something? Doesn't that mean by building it you generate ore or RU? Or does STars ignore it?

What? Of course you can't do it without hacking the exec. But even Stars Ed has imposed limits. Such as 30,000 is the limit they impose on most things. Just cause it's nice and round. And.. it's under the signed intiger limit. Though I'm still tempted to give it a try just to see what happens if I build or scrap a ship that's worth negative RU or Ore. If it behaves at all logically, then building the ship will give you ore and scrapping it will subtract ore. Course the other option is it just costs a whole lot more than anyone can ever spend.. Either way is good I think...
-----------------
Addendum:
After doing a quick testbed... The answer is 1) if it's too expensive you can never build it, it's always "red" 2) if you DO build some and scrap them the scrap is worth less than if the part cost just 30k of any kind of resource. 3) As I recall from other tests, the RU you get back from scrapping is something up, 90% of the RU UPTO the current RU value of the planet your scrapping on. (Tried to scrap huge fleet of expensive ships to make a Genesis Device build really fast.... At best I could only double the RU on the planet. Never more. As far as I know that's how it all works out.)
Conclusion: Making the price negative is a waste of time. It's less lucrative than making the price 30k and it makes the part unbuildable. (though if you were banning spesific things on a non AH game that could be useful.)
