Map details
Lurianer(IT) Me(SS) Jeff(JOAT)
Acen(IT) Ed(NAS JOAT) Magicshroom(HE)
Nasobema(IT) Rhino(IS) Snot(JOAT)

@ your comment on my ally being a feed.. I didn't quite understand. Was Acen(IT) feeding off me, or was he feeding me?

Nevertheless, we both got quite a lot from each other.
I gave him my impressive -f tech advantage and gave him 3 fat breeders in my space, right next to my planets which had gates up .. (pps.. bah, I'll write about that bit in a later post).
while I got access to 10+ greens in his space, which I planned on colonising post 2430. Saved me quite a battle and secured a front at the same time.
(plus any other planet he wanted, which I offered as his HW didn't match my habs, so I rightly guessed that we had 'friendly' habs).
I was a bit worried about egoo as he was his friend in RL, but that worked out. (details in later posts).

The end game alliance between us was an effective alliance for both of us. (6 inactives or down to 30% of peak before we fight) (see below for more).

@ your 2421 log entry, wondering about Nmid strategy > I went in for a strategy of peaceful expansion. Get the greens I want by exchanging tech or planets I didn't want and keep expanding... and get to CC stage + gates and then attack neighbours I didn't have NAPs with.
I don't agree or understand why people want to enter into fights, where the alternatives of a peaceful (and manageable) NAP suffices.

My mini-game story
I won, basically because I monstered quite well.. and instead of using stealth, I used my ability to churn out advanced ships... along with a lot of mineral stripping.

I had 5 neighbors. (see map above)
2 of which eventually turned out to be feeders for me. (Jeff and Egoo).
Acen and you were my strategic choices for an end-game NAP.. and looking back at it, I'm happy I didn't have an end-game NAP with your HE race... It would have been too tough to counter.
The IT element of gates added with my mineral stealing was just perfect. We set up an extensive network of LFs that gated minerals all over the place, which was a MAJOR help to both of us. (I was quite comfortable sharing my minerals with him, on the basic premise that if he backstabs me (even without mineral sharing), I'm out of the game.. but if I trust him, it would be a multiplicative growth for me, while I'll be able to commit my forces to my battles, without really requiring a defensive fleet).
I sold him on the alliance by the simple fact that I was spread across almost 2/3rd of the top tri-row .. and that we both had complimentary habs. Quite lucky that.

Btw, that was basically my selling point to all my neighbours.. NAP with a guarantee of no backstab (if u could bring yourself to trust me enough), planet to planet swap, and tech sharing offers.

My starting scouting efforts from 2400-2405, resulted in eventually scouting 50% of the universe in 15 years which helped A LOT in knowing how the universe borders lay as well as gave me a lot of background info to negotiate with my neighbours.
Ed (South) and you (SE) were two neighbours that were tough to negotiate with as
>Ed had pretty wide habs and wanted no planet swaps. That had me worried as he was a JOAT, which I figured out before 2402.. and then he turned out to be a NAS JOAT !! His non-willingness to tech swap closed the avenue of building up an alliance with him as well.
>You were a HE, which I figured out around 2415 or so.. quite late as I missed out on checking your minicolo design around 2410. what suprised me however, was a complete lack of scouts from your side.
Not having pen-scans that early, I guessed wrongly that you were planet hopping your scouts quite nicely in your sector, which was the 2nd most planet populated sector (1/9) in the universe.
I should have realised that you were a tri-immune, if not a bi-immune.
I did figure that out by 2425(?) though .. need to refer to our lengthy chat records from that time.

Jeff and egoo were open for planet swaps, but they didn't seem to be able to utilize it to their advantage. As it turned out later, their GRs were too low to be effective in a human-game.
Which leads me to another aspect.. you were tri-immune with lots of planets in your sector, but you should have still colonised outposts into jeff space.. even later into the game, you never seemed to use diplomacy or work with your non-aggressive neighbours effectively (I'll write a bit on our negotiations later on.. this was supposed to be a quick response... sigh). You had a decent chance with Ed, whom I had already spooked.. and you should have scouted early so that you could have made friendly relations with rhino or perhaps snots.

Anyways, I got lucky with getting the blessings of the hab-gods and had big fat breeder greens along with a fantastic GR. That made a massive boost in my expansion rate, which I took full advantage of by going in for further-than-usual planet expansions.. which soon became breeders of their own.

I'll post a few maps and my log in 2-3 weeks, once I get back home.

I know my minefields.. but I'm a chaff sweeper.
I used to curse when I got stuck in traffic... till I realised I AM traffic.
