I would highly recommend you just not use Netscape. Yes, you can follow the recommendations on this thread and get it to work but then a new problem develops. That problem is that now when you view your Stars! director, you no longer see the file type. This can be fixed by yet more changes in defaults (i.e. more hassle) but you will have problems with selecting files for sending in Outlook since you can't see the file types. This is a problem for team games when you want to pick specific files or for alliances when you are dealing with more than one set of X, H, and M files.

What to do, just use Outlook Express for file sends. It is free and a whole lot less hassle. I hate Microsoft as much as the next guy but sometimes it is just easier to capitulate and use the easy solution.

Now if you manage to associate a file type and want to change it back to NOT ASSOCIATED, this is how it is done:

First I could find no way to do it WITHOUT editing the Registry. This is a simple job but be very careful and follow directions exactly or you could kill your machine and need to reload the Op System.

Go to Run and enter regedit, click on OK button.

Scan list and click on + in front of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Scan list and click on + in front of SOFTWARE
Scan list and click on + in front of CLASSES
Scan list and look for the file type you want to disassociate.
Click on folder for file type, it will open.
Go to Edit at top of window and select "delete", the file type will dissapear. It will first ask you if you really want to do this delete and include subdirectories. Click on yes.
Go to Registry at top of window and select exit. (Notice there is no save.)
Now reboot your computer.

Result the file type is no longer associated, you can see it when you have an open window of the Stars! directory, and you can easily select the right file for sending in outlook express.

This works for Win 2000 and Win XP.
