Look at those unarmed ship totals. I've felt for a long time that unarmed ships are a key score to watch. A player with lots will have the ability to develop (freighters) and defend (mine layers) their empire much better, and scout the universe and keep an eye on the enemy better then some one who dosen't have as many unarmed ships. It's not a perfect predicter, but it seems to be a very important thing to look at that most people ignore. You can obviously build bad, useless, or unnecessary unarmed ships, but for the most part, people tend to not build enough of them, so it seems to me that the player who has more is better positioned to win.

I agree with that, usually the largest difference I've seen is in transport ships. More of them (don't overbuild though) means you can spread out more efficiently, grow faster, spread further etc.

A note regarding ccmasters HE, that very high number of unarmed ships is because he doesn't build anything else than mini colonizers+cargo pod and mini colonizers+fuel pod to transport his pop. Wink
