no, i used range 3 beamer with range 3 sappers and range 3 lasers...
it only moved two spaces instead of the 3 it could move and targeted the bb instead of moving 3 spaces forward and sapping the BB while beaming the lasers like i expected.

OK, so your ships moved into range of a ship with shields and then proceeded to attack that ship with everything.
Whereas you were hoping it would move into range of two types ships, fire its sappers at one ship and fire the beams at another ships.
Is that correct?
Not sure what you mean by only moving 2 spaces when it could move 3. If the ship can move 3 it should move 3 - even if it doesn't go where you had hoped.
