I've just tested what I said before with 2 computers 2 races both PP. 12345678 as my seed number and 4 tests. One with 2 PP's one from each PC. One with two JOATs one from each PC. One with a JOAT and a PP from the same PC. One with PP and a JOAT from the same PC. (All 4 possible combinations.) And one where I switched the player numbers, both PP from different computers.

Both PC's have unique serial numbers as well. (Like I'd be able to get away with this if they weren't.) And I used a JRC3 exec.

In all the tests, 100% of the time the worlds were static. It made ZERO difference which computer submitted the race. The map was precisely the same every single time. The 2nd worlds were precisely in the same places and the homeworlds never moved.

My way will work, and it'll work just as I said. I know this for a fact, first hand, not second or third. I can even email whom ever wants to see the test map snap shots.

Addendum:

I've just done a test map with 10 players. Since the map will be the same if a player is PP or IT or JOAT or whatever, I think it's safe to just gen a map for HW's. I broke up 10 players into 3 teams, Blue, Green, and Red. Blue team was a triangle on the south east, Green was stretched across the north, and Red was a square in the south west. That's just a test and I'm positive it's repeatable reguardless of what computer makes the race file, or what the race is. The map is medium normal. I'm not saying this is what we'll play on but I am saying that using this method is doable.

If everyone's okay with this I'll call a vote on the map dimentions.

I would also like to add that when you change the player number the map changes, new stars are added, some deleted and player HW's shift.

One final note, the person who quoted that info on seeds and having IT and PP change the map, perhaps you should check what VERSION of stars that pertains to. Because it doesn't seem to pertain at all to JRC3.

I've made dozens of teamgames using seeds. And there definately were cases where HWs jumped and the seed was ruined. Spending hours to find a good seed using dummies and than see it ruined when you get the real races is not something you forget.
I can't remember the exact details, it has been a few years since I ran into the problem, I now let a neutral party do this for me (usually donjon Smile or I am the neutral party myself for games I'm not playing) so the real races are used.
As for the version, that would most likely be either 2.6jRC3 or 2.7jRC3.
