This is a variation of the 'Travelling Salesman Problem'. A google search will provide lots of material.


In fact it did. That's what prompted me to attack the problem from a completely different angle, at least for mineral/pop balancing. Wink

Though the "Ant Colony" algorithms do sound promising: start with a straight path outwards and tweak it until max planets are scanned. That's what prompted my "fuel/trip" optimizer script a year ago, as a stepping stone for the greater goal. Very Happy
