Hi,

I don't know if other people have this, but I find I almost always lose interest half way through a game. Once I settle down and focus on fleet building and diplomacy I get uninspired and just stop playing regularly. Confused

Anyone have advice to keep interested or similar experience?

Cheers
McKulz

pick a fight.

lol. In all honesty I get the same problem. Once that first war you faught is won/lost and you diplomatic status has become stable and the majority of your fleets are stuck at home on patrols it can get a little tedious.

I normally like to set 5 year plans. Gives you a short term set of goals to achieve.

freakyboy is right, find someone you can attack, play around and make it look like he started it, even if it sounds ridiculous, just role play a bit. Very Happy

Or skip 5-10 turns, let the vultures pick on your race and then come back, cleaning up the mess might be some interesting hard work, it can be lots of fun fighting in an underdog position with nothing too lose,

Stars! is 4X game: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate. If you don't enjoy the last part, you are in the wrong game. Better chose SimWhatever.
If you have problems with attacking your friendly neighbours (I still have Wink), do roleplay a coup d'état in your government, send a distress call for help and in next turn a proclamation of the new, military government going on rampage. But do respect your NAPs and termination conditions. One thing is roleplay to attack (it's 4X game!), but not respecting your deals will give you a bad reputation.
BR, Iztok

Just say no to diplomacy from the start. Cool That'll keep it interesting for ya.

In the last game I began (and am still playing) as soon as I met people they were wanting to establish borders, etc. To each new contact I merely replied that I had no interest in giving them whatever they thought they needed to win the game and that I intended to settle wherever I pleased and lay my minefields everywhere. Twisted Evil

The game has remained interesting, and it worked out pretty well for me (although all of those people save one dropped out). Cool

I'M NOT AN EXPERT AND I'M OFTEN PROVEN WRONG. TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN YOU READ MY POSTS.
Math? Confused Ummm, sure! Nod I do FREESTYLE math.

lol, yup.

Stick to your deals, but don't make deals with everybody or you'll get really bored, and probably lose to boot.

I gotta say, making deals with NOBODY does sound a little brave Smile
