Hey! I've been wondering, anyone got some old Stars Patches? like. 2.7h or earlier? I've got the 1.1 and the most modern... But I'd like to see what it looked like earlier. Anyone got something like that? A good 2.0 would be great, cause I could upgrade it and see the game evolve.... Just for curiousity's sake... Anyone got anything like that?

Isn't 2.6i same as 2.7i minus sounds?

My original game diskettes are 2.6b. I was thrilled with the upgrade to 2.6b at the time, because I began playing Stars with 2.6a shareware. Or was it V2.5? Coulda been that - it was a LONG time ago.
In V2.6a or V2.6b (can't remember for certain) the ships used kt measurements of fuel for travel (which was real weight, just like any other cargo). Somehow it seemed even more complicated back then but I don't remember why exactly - maybe the consumption rate mechanics was smoothed out later. Normal travel by any ship was kind of like what an IS player goes through when shipping half-filled freighters of colonists, but in reverse; the load got significantly lighter each turn.
Anyways, changing the fuel mass to an insignificant size was one of the most wonderful improvements to the game to this day, IMO.
If you want V2.7 upgrades I can't help you, but I probably have every upgrade from V2.6b to present on diskettes, somewheres. It was necessary at one time because for a long time the upgrades were cumulative, and you needed them all. Only the latest ones consolidated all the upgrades in one patch.
Fond memories. Glad this game is still very much alive. Says a lot for it, doesn't it? What other 8-9 year old games does anyone still play?
Uh-huh, exactly. NONE.
I'M NOT AN EXPERT AND I'M OFTEN PROVEN WRONG. TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN YOU READ MY POSTS.

TheQ:
Sure I'd like to look over the release notes. See what's different from version to version...
