Ah, well. Not like it'll fall off the front page here at good old half-dead HWF.
Anyway, I've played hybrid 6% tri-immunes in All Quiet and Tenderfoot. They're alright. They're a little weaker economically than a Fed-like race (by which I mean 0i HG NAS JoaT), but with cheaper tech and no terra costs that's okay. They do feel a little boring, though.
Right now I'm trying to make a fast HE that doesn't burn out, and is playable (ie, no CE, weaps cheap, decent mines, etc). I think I've hit upon something that might work, but I pity the person who tries to actually run it in a game.

actually, it's more like the lack of gates is a killer KO for me.
If you do go -f HE in a non-duel game, you'll have a good run till 2450 or so, but post 2450, you really have to think 5 turns ahead and have a good intel system to make sure you don't get flanked or have a marauding enemy fleet going through your system.
Ofc, you can counter it by allying with someone and using his gates, set up at convenient locations.
Hmmm... I think I'll go with -f or as a 2nd choice, low HG.
(ps - why use 2450 as a breakpoint? Simply because you should be dominating the starting phase or 2420-2450 by getting 3 times the area that your neighbor has. If you are having problems in 2435, then no real point playing a -f).
I know my minefields.. but I'm a chaff sweeper.
I used to curse when I got stuck in traffic... till I realised I AM traffic.Report message to a moderator
