How ro set a waypoint to follow a fleet at the same location?

I fear that it is not possible.

To rephrase:

I have a fleet at the same location as another (a MT in this case). The MT did not accept my fleet, probably because I had to merge it with another fleet at the location of the MT (a slight planning error Razz

). So I need to follow the MT to catch it next turn. It travels at warp 10 so I can't hop in front of it or take a detour. In order to follow the MT I need to set it as waypoint, but it is at the same location as my fleet and I can't figure out how to set a waypoint there.

I tried setting an intermediary waypoint somewhere else, then back again, but the game deleted me second waypoint when I deleted the first even though it was set to the MT, not my own fleet.

The best I can come up with is zooming in and hoping to set a waypoint along the correct path in order to wind up in the same location as the MT.
