I am seeking players for a new game. The game is to begin in 2 weeks. The following are the rules
Game Parameters:
1. I will play in the game as well as host in the game.
I can be contacted directly at DenHam@aol.com.
2. Players should use registered version 2.6JRC4 or 2.7JRC3
3. Host will attempt to replace missing players if their race is playable and the player provides information necessary to find a replacement. If the player who is quitting the game can find their own replacement that is ideal. Otherwise, that player needs to provide passwords so that the host can try to find a replacement player.
4. No Preexisting alliances.
5. No collaboration in race design. No pregame disclosure of PRT, LRT, hab ranges or other race statistics to other players prior to the start of the game.
6. Turns to be run earlier of 24 hours after the last turn or whenever all players have submitted. Based on majority vote this could be changed to be less frequent and/or to provide for a 24 hour delay for a major holiday.
7. Chaff & Split Fleet avoidance allowed. No “cheats” allowed.
8. Universe Definition:
- Medium Universe ,Normal Distribution if less than 8 players (about 280-290 planets)
- Large Universe, Normal Distribution if there are 8 to 12 players (about 500 planets)
- Huge Universe, Sparse Distribution if there are more than 12 players (about 600 planets)
- Farther Playing Positions
- Slower Tech Advances: No
- Beginner: Maximum Minerals: No
- Accelerated BBS: Yes
- Random Events: Yes
- Number of Computer Players: 0
- Random Events: Yes
- Public Playing Scores: No
- Galaxy Clumping: Yes
9. Winning Condition: Exceeds other score by 120% or all current active players agree to a winner. Only one winner.
10. Restrictions on Races: No restrictions except: CAs must leave a minimum 110 advantage points remaining; JOAT must leave a minimum 55 race advantage points. Prior to the start, each player's race will be reviewed by someone not playing in the game to confirm race compliance. If there are any beginners joining the game, they can design CA, JOAT or any other race without leaving a minimum race advantage points, provided that they identify themselves as a beginner and discuss this with me in advance.
11. Alliance Restrictions: Each player may have no more than 2 allies at any one time. Only allies can be set to friendly. All alliances must have a specified termination period of no more than 30 turns (or extended to no more than 30 turns in total). After an alliance has expired, the races must set each other to neutral or enemy and can not enter a new alliance with each other for another 10 turns. This rule is enforced with the “honor system”. (Although it is unlikely that anyone will review the game to check that this rule is followed we ask that players obey the rule). Early termination of alliances is allowed for any reason whether it is a “backstab”, mutual agreement for termination, termination for “cause”, or any other reason.
The reason to have some restrictions on alliances is that this is a one winner game. I am trying to allow some cooperation and still have the spirit of an independent victor. This, of course, has an additional effect of limiting trading ships to two races.
Any and all of these rules are open to discussion. If there is a consensus for change, there will be a vote and rules will be modified according to majority rule. Everyone is encouraged to to provide feedback and let us all know, if you have any ideas for improvements.

No, I guess I was feeling especially random when I wrote that.
Although it has only been a few days since I posted, I have 10 players signed up so far and a possible 11th player requesting information. I expect this to be a full game or at least close to a full game.

I suspect the game I am currently playing is about to end - so count me in.

|
Yes, an outside person will review your race. You should still put a password on the file. Before the game I will have you directly Email your password to the person reviewing the file.
I haven't yet recruited anyone to review these files. Are there any volunteers? We need someone who is not playing to do a onetime check the race files to confirm compliance with the rules.

One last question before I submit my race file - what is now defined to be the universe size/density for the game?

| We have 15 players so the size is to be Huge, sparse. In a separate message to all the players asking for comments whether this was OK or whether it is too big.
Since we already have 15 players, this is the last call for new players.

I do need to know the final decision on the universe definition before I submit a race file. The universe definition will not only determine how I create the race but it will also influence the PRT I choose.

Yes, I know. I have sent out an Email for a vote by all the players on whether a smaller size universe makes more sense. I am hoping that votes can be sent by tommorrow so we can give everyone a week to design their race. Race files are due on the 16th.

This is to confirm that the only changes in the rules from those indicated in the first post are:
- Universe Size is Large. Universe Density is Normal
- Distant Player Positions
We have 15 players signed up. We still have room for one more player. Players need to submit their race files by October 16, 2006.
