New games come in waves....
Very much like busses, you don't see one for hours, and then half a dozen come along at the same time....

...but what on earth are you people thinking??!!! Shocked
If there have been a few games advertised in the last 24 hours, and they haven't received their full quota of players yet, why post another?

Not only are you cutting down your chances of recruiting the requisite number of players for your own game, but your are treading on the previous posters' toes.

Not to mention the players that have signed up for those games.

Dudes - have a little respect.
If there are very recently advertised games still recruiting, then WAIT a few days.

Cool

For what its worth I'd normally agree with you, however in this case the games on offer are all quite different and should appeal to different kinds of players.

My own and SinicalIdealists games are both designed for players with limited time to play (a relative rarity in games usually) and the players we're after are mutually exclusive.

Of Ashlyn's games, one is for beginners only, one is a generic game for Intermediate+ and the last is a relatively long term game. All three will take more time than I have to spare.

And finally we have a team game on offer.

A very nice menu I might add. Smile

Often to play the kind of game we want to we have to host it ourselves, or at least find a host willing to run it for us, so I'm not surprised at the number of games available.

edit:spelling Sad

Oh, I agree - a veritable feast of varied games on offer!

I'm not necessarily referring to the current crop, but in general..

There just seems to be an "avalanche" mentality when it comes to advertising new games.

It make me sad... Crying or Very Sad

Considers that players start and stop games in waves. Some fade into playing after a break of several months. Some just start new games when there previous ones end. They gain players when they gain players. I just started feeling like a game. I didn't care for any of the currently going game ideas.

Advanced games tend to take about 2 months to fill in any case. Post early and often. Smile

..aahhhh...

But then you get the scenario where you eventually have your x players.

"Hands up who's here?" you innocently ask...

The tally?

x-1

So then you go about recruiting more players to fill the empty slots... and finally some sucker agrees to fill the empty space..

Meanwhile, Enthusiastic Jim has disappeared into the ether, and appears to be uncontactable by any means.
Including carrier pigeon.

If that wasn't bad enough, Starmuppet has miraculously become a father - changing nappies obviously precludes any Stars-like activities, and WhangWarrior has been imprisoned pending trial, regarding some act of deviancy outside the local McDonalds.

Round and round and round it goes..... Rolling Eyes

this hits just a little too close to home....which is why I've given up my idealistic hope of ever playing another game w/ 16 advanced+ players in the same game. Now I always post alternate sizes and once the game starts to reach threshold, i'll give 2 days and close game.

Man, I remember the good ol' days...back in '98-'00. Sad
