No responses in the other thread, and I want to post the game soon, so I am posting just the final questions

The main question now.. is this a 'fair' setup? There needs to be a balance here, so that the outer races have time to 'take' to the Peak before turn 65. Given the 20 year skip, that gives players 45 years to build their race and get a fleet to the center and take the Peak planet. And 7-8 other races will be trying to do this.

The center player needs time to develop to defend from 7-8 other races, with a possibility of winning if he can hold them off long enough.

Is this well balanced? In not, what would be better?

Or should the whole center player aspect be skipped? And just make it a race to the Peak planet (still needing to hold it for 10 years of course...). It would make the game simpler, and there would be no need for skipping the 20 turns for the outer players.

Thoughts?

RainDancer.

I think you're right. It's so much easier to balance if you don't have the central player there.

Power struggles as such will inevitably happen as one player gets close to the peak, but they'll always have their homeworld to come back to if they're rolled over. And they won't stay the target when the next guy comes along.
