Also, is this correct?
If we have 8 or 9 players the starting universe will be a medium normal with 288 stars getting closest to 35/player [36 or 32]. If 8 players core of 80 planets /[density 2.5]=32; 32*10000=320,000 ly^2; 32,000/π=~101859; √101859=core radius ~319 ly.
Gap between core and outer band =219 ly, inner edge of ring is 538 ly from center. So 538^2*π=~909315 ly^2; ~909315/4000=~227 hypothetical stars. 80 in the core and 147 not in the gap.
Adding the 227 from the outer gap and the remainder of actual stars (208) gets us to 435. (435/2.5)*10000=1,740,000 ly^2. 1740000/π=~553859; √~553859=744 ly from center to outer edge.
A large remap will accommodate this, so all numbers round to nearest multiple of 4: 320, 540, 744. The template bitmap (400x400) will have 3 circles at 80, 135, and 186 from center.
If 9 players, ((90/2.5)10,000)=360,000. √(360,000/π)=~339.
339+239=578. 578^2*π=~1049556 ly^2. ((1049556*2.5)/10,000)=~262 hypothetical stars. 208+262=470. √(((470/2.5)*10000)/π)=774. 340, 580, 774, become template values 85, 145, 193.
Is that what we are doing?
Do we assume HW position ~642 ly from center if 8 players or 677 if 9?
Now my math isn't the best. How do I find the expected distance between players? I look at this kind of problem and it might as well be asking who is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne of Westeros. I come up with ~491 ly for 8 players and ~463 ly for 9, or 512 clones of Milica Bogdanovna Jovovich.

hahahaha... wonder how many players actually fought 3 neighbours simultaneously and succeeded
It sure will be interesting to see how the universe map gif* looks once the game is over.
* = Every 5 years, add the .p files from all players (2403, 05, 10 ... ), collate it in stars notebook and create a gif of all the map image files.
I know my minefields.. but I'm a chaff sweeper.
