Dynamic Duos 3 is over, so I would like to start a new game. Rules will be essentially the same as DD3:
Race restrictions, CA and IT are banned, Joat cannot take NAS. You cannot take HE factoryless. This means you cannot have factories worse than the default of 10/10/10 and no GR above 10(20)
All races other than your teammate must be set to enemy. No communication with anyone other than your teammate.
No tech trading with anyone other than your teammate. Only one race per player, you can however submit your allies turn if necessary, like when your ally is on vacation, too busy at work, etc.
Other game settings are as follows:
- Distant players position
- AccBBS
- random events on
- PPS off.
Standard cheat disclaimer, which means that the following cheats are allowed:
- chaff
- split fleet dodge
- merge fleets after gating
- Mine damage dodge
Turns would be MTWTF until 2430 or someone requests a slow down. From there they would be MWF.
Condition of victory, PPS being turned on at 2500 and then a vote. If there is no clear victor, we keep playing until there is a clear victor by vote.
Universe will be medium dense.
With DD3 we also added a condition that all races take Weapons expensive. Made for an interesting game, a lot more fleets of bazooka FFs and colloidal BBs then you normally see. I don't know if I want to make that a rule for DD4. If you want to play, let me know and let me know your preference for weapons expensive, or any other variation of this game you would like to see.
The Host is playing in this game. We also need a volunteer to check races and move planets so that teammates start next to each other. Any volunteers for this?

Quote:I would prefer weapons not to be expensive, but not too bothered if that's what everyone wants. I think, that having weapons expensive is interesting - if all will be have it obviously. It cause that older ship designs will be much longer usefull.
I have question concerning -f racess - only HE cant be -f or other also?

In DD3, Donjon posted a bit of info about the universe :
http://starsautohost.org/sahforum2/index.php?t=msg&th=49 56&prevloaded=1&rid=1464&start=50#msg_num_9
Quote:
Hi Guys,
The damage is done
The game has been submitted to Ron and I'm sure he'll have it up as soon as he can.
Some things...
1) All teams are within a two year jump at warp 9 of their partners.
2) All enemies are at least 300ly from your home worlds.
3) The center of the universe is totally empty of homeworlds... making a 600x600ly area which is virgin.
4) the corollary is that all teams are closer to the edges.
Hope you have a good game.
regards,
donjon
Would it be similar this time around?
I wonder if donjon has an image file from 2400 with how the shifting of the HW's finally ended up looking.

Donjon did a great job of moving the HWs in the last game. The setup was about as fair as it gets with starting positions. It looked something like this:

..............HW..................HW........................ ...............................................HW........... ......... ....HW

In DD1, there were 2 AR races - one me/ManicLurch killed and the other did not do so well. I suggest making this universe a little more AR friendly with banning the target Starbase order.
If wpn expensive is used then I suggest the SAS 7 banning of Alpha and Beta torps (except on Starbases) be applied. I vote for wpn expensive.
Please put Nmid and I down as partners for this game. Thank you

That would make a big difference. We (ManicLurch and I) played AR/IS last time around and the kill base orders where though to deal with. Basically you can't defend, you have to attack.

Somehow it hasn't been an issue here in the two DD games that I played in. The fact that you have a pregame partner and that tech trading is allowed and that we have more room to expand makes it a much faster game than SAS, even with weapons expensive. I don't mind something like the SAS7 rule on torps, but I don't think it will be needed. Both earlier DD games used lots of phaser and sapper CCs and BBs and most players made it at least to W16 or even W20. In both games the game wasn't decided until Nubs.
Cheers, Rolf.
