I would be very disappointed to see the game paused at all for one player to take a vacation - it is up to any player taking a vacation to find a replacement player to cover for them. All the other players that are not on holiday shouldn't have to wait for a player that decides to take a holiday. It seems absurd to start a game knowing you have a vacation starting then ask within the first week for the game to be put on hold.........

Hi,
I vote on anyone going on vacation to at least try and get a temp replacement.
About the schedule issue, I think we could reach a compromise agreeable to most, if not all. Why not increase gen schedule to, say, 40 hours? It should not be noticeable at all in the days when everybody uploads his turn early, and the afforded slack for the days when not everybody can upload early won't kill most of us.
What do you say, fellow peacenicks?

And, since the Forum seems to serve little purpose, I'll use email to
try and get my plea heard.
So far, we've "enjoyed" two weekends of mostly waiting and not playing.
So far, in weekdays it has not mattered whether we had a 36 hours turn
schedule, or a 48 hours, or a 30 hours, for that matter.
Or so it seemed.
If anyone has separate online time (i.e office) and playing time (i.e
home), the 36 hour schedule will sooner or later force him/her to
skip. The math is so simple I don't think it needs to be explained
again here.
I've been under that Damocles' Sword since day one. So far, sheer
timing luck has allowed me to keep going on.
No more.
Today I'll skip. Or else make such a botched rush of my turn that it
won't matter, anyway.
45 minutes is the abyss I cannot jump.
And the worst is, it will happen again, unless the damn schedule is changed.
I'm only asking for 4 more hours, or even two. Is it that much now
that things start to get interesting?
Please speak your mind, comrades, since the overwhelming silence in
the Forum so far has led me to believe nobody will notice if I
continue playing or not.
This galaxy is not fun anymore.
Yours in any fair competition,

There have been 9 replies to the thread about gen times in the forum, with several possible solutions and 5 players voting in the poll. I'm posting this to the forum as well as thorugh this email, in the hope that more people will start visiting the forum and we can continue the discussion there.
Your first post in the forum seemed to me to suggest that you thought there should be no pause at weekends, but I now suspect I must have misunderstood the tone of the message.
If a slowdown from 36 hours to 38 hours will make a big difference to anyone then it's small enough a change to be fine by me.
Joe.

I favour a 24 hour gen, seems to me that everyone regardless of time zone should be able to do their turns that way. We do have at least one player in Oz so weekend gen/no gen should consider the International Date Line, but otherwise, what's wrong with 24 hours and no weekend gen? As long as we can all agree to a time that works for everyone?
