I thing one of the known bugs/exploits should be renamed.

I think "Repaid after gating" should instead be called "Repair after merging" or something like that - But as I note below I haven't fully tested my reasoning, though I am highly confident it works as I think it works.

The reason for that is that this increased repair of a moving fleet occurs whenever a moving fleet merges to a stationary fleet, it is not something that only happens when the moving fleet gates to orbit and merges with a stationary fleet with one or more SFX ships.

It is most often used to counteract overgating damage, and the repair is most obvious when the destination fleet is a fleet with one or more SFX ships in orbit, with a friendly starbase at the destination, but the increased repair occurs whenever the destination fleet is stationary, even if it is in deep space. It isn't much of a benefit if the destination fleet is in deep space (only 1% more repair than for a moving fleet), but there still is a benefit to merging with a stationary fleet regardless of where that stationary fleet is.

At least I don't see why it should not work that way, I haven't actually tested it with merging to a stationary fleet in deep space, I have only tested it with merging to a stationary fleet in orbit with a friendly starbase. If anyone thinks I am wrong, then you are of course free to test it yourself.
