"The fleet you were tracking with Fleet #2, appears to have ducked behind X. Orders for your fleet have been changed to go to that planet"
I have always assumed that you are able to track fleets to the correct planets with normal scanners when they duck behind planets. (ie the scanners are able to track the fleet while they move, they don't move in one giant jump)
However, another person that I talked to, thought that you were unable to know which planet the fleet has ducked behind, and thought that stars would always suggest the nearest.
I did a small testbed, and it seemed like I was right, you will get directed to the correct planet.
However, in that case, it seems like a viable strategy for tracking fleets that you want to know the location of in case they are planet-ducking, is to direct some idle scout from wherever in your empire to target the enemy at warp1 or something. It seems strange that this information should not be present if you don't target the fleet with some ship..?
