I'm very excited by this. Sure, we still don't know how to build one, but it means that if we figure out the trick we can actually use it.
Weeeelllll, it's a humdinger of a straightforward proof in Special Relativity to show that FTL allows you to move from and back to a position in the space coordinates at an earlier time value. Now converting that into General Relativity, and then allowing for the effects of engaging and disengaging the warp drive might give a solution to the FTL time paradox.
Just hope it's better than the one in that story by Larry Niven in which the solution to the issue of a having an large infinitely long cylinder in space allowing paths around it that could move you back in time (which was engineer by making a reallllly big cylinder with flared ends): the universe prevented it from being finished by causing the space civilization to collapse. Of course, Larry Niven told the story much better than this.
But I'm excited too.
