additions,changes and deletions are coloured.
8 players.
"Advanced Beginner" or higher skill required (if you have to ask, the answer is probably no).
Host is not playing.
Initially 26hrs between turn gens, slowing by concensus later.
Medium, Sparse (approx 25-30 planets each).
Custom start positions.
AccBSS on.
Galaxy Clumping on (negotiable by popular demand).
All others off.
No pre-game alliances. Otherwise unrestricted diplomacy.
Standard cheats disclaimer applies. See also below for my personal disclaimer.
Race files to be sent to gible@gible.net First in, first served. Create race files for LLL. I will adjust/assign your combination during game creation.
Race restrictions:(For all races)
No immunities.
No TT.
each hab must touch one end (which ends for each player will be randomly assigned) and be less than 3/4 of the full range
- ie the maximums are: grav:.12-1.96/.51-8 temp:-200-96/-96-200 rad: 0-74/26-100.
CA are further confined to RW-positive net clicks from 3 "whole" halves.
- eg if you've been given LLL then set habs to {.12-1,-200-0,0-50} note the RW points[say, 418] and then change them however you want as long as you're 1. touching the ends and within the 3/4 ranges as above 2. your 'final' RW points available is equal or higher [than 418].
Each race must have at least the following RW points leftover(not the number in brackets), spent however you want:
HE: 300 (408)
SS: 300 (389)
WM: 300 (406)
CA: 400 (418)
IS: 350 (454)
SD: 350 (471)
PP: 250 (381)
IT: 300 (361)
AR: 300 (391)
JoaT: 350 (443)
Two reasons: 1) race balancing 2) soak up the points gained from the hab settings(shown in brackets).
* these RW point requirements may change wrt to discussion.
The theme here is that each HW of the 8 L-R combinations will be ringed around the galaxy in the order: LLL,RLL,RLR,RRR,RRL,LRL,LRR,LLR with the other planets' habs altered to form continuous hab 'terrain' between HWs. AKA an excuse to make use of Stars Host Editor
How you ask?
If all the planets are plotted according to their hab values(in clicks) in 3d with each HW at the vertex of a cube the other planets would lie on a boxed psuedo hyperbolic paraboloid both inside the cube and extending beyond it.
Too hard? hmm...
If you imagine HW hab centers are 1=L and 5=R so 3=centered and then arrange the HWs (1,1,1* etc) with one near each corner and one near the middle of each side, the terrain would look something like:
6,6,6 4,6,6 2,6,6 0,6,6 0,6,4 0,6,2 0,6,0
6,6,4 5,5,5* 3,5,5 1,5,5* 1,5,3 1,5,1* 0,4,0
6,6,2 5,5,3 4,4,4 2,4,4 2,4,2 1,3,1 0,2,0
6,6,0 5,5,1* 4,4,2 3,3,3 2,2,2 1,1,1* 0,0,0
6,4,0 5,3,1 4,2,2 4,2,4 2,2,4 1,1,3 0,0,2
6,2,0 5,1,1* 5,1,3 5,1,5* 3,1,5 1,1,5* 0,0,4
6,0,0 6,0,2 6,0,4 6,0,6 2,0,6 4,0,6 0,0,6
Except...
I won't do this and instead will make the HWs roughly octagonal and rotate it 22.5° so that no player is in a corner.
Still too hard? Your name is zoid?
Never mind how. Near your HW, planets will have great habs and as you get futher away from your HW, the habs of planets will get steadily worse. The planets roughly in the middle of the galaxy will roughly have all 3 habs centered. You won't get stuck in a corner. (Sorry zoid, you know we luff you )
My personal hosting disclaimer:
Rolling back turns is BAD. If you need a pause, ask for one. Three consecutive unexplained missed turns will result in being sent an inquiry email, a fourth (explained or not) missed turn will result in being set to inactive and a replacement being sought if appropriate.
If you password your game files(arguably unnecessary now on AH), you MUST keep me informed of your current password. Failure to do so will result in your race being set to Dead/Banned until an appropiate password is forthcoming. With AH as it is, my preference is to not use a password...and I don't.
