Thought I'd start this as a separate thread for the players to comment on anything about the game.
I felt no need to attack early as I had a totally complimentary hab range with one of my neighbours.
I think that other players (but with certainly 1 noteworthy exception) also had this "comfort" factor.
My first suggestion to encourage fighting would to make everybody have the same mid point in 1 (or possibly more) hab band.
Players can have different widths, or even 100% wide or immune.
I know it is only a small effect and it doesn't guarantee that people have to fight for planets, but it must increase the odds that they do.
