One important factor was the hab ranges of the players.
Several of us all wanted high Rad worlds, so we were all content to let the Hounds take any lower Rad worlds.

The players that could use lower Rad were the Eldars, who were conveniently removed by me. This got the Hounds several more planets for little effort.
The Mines also had some overlap with the Hounds, but they were concentrating on the Wombats.
So the only restrcting border early on was with the Imps, who were removed rather rapidly later on.

Still, to get 36k by year 50 with a factoryless race in a real game is still mightily impressive (to me anyway).

One issue that was apparent was the lack of enthusiasm to take on the leader. People don't seem to want to ever "change sides".
I am a little surprised by this, especially in a single winner game.
Ok, part of that is no doubt my fault, but I was the 2nd most inexperienced player in the game. I don't really know how to go about getting people to change their horizons (e.g. stop 5th place fighting 6th place).
The only player I've really seen make an effort to rally players was Hetzer, and that was in a different situation.

Anyway, just my feelings on the game.
Think I'll try a game with factories next, before I forget what they are.
