A little-known advantage of the Packet Physics race is that they can see ALL mineral packets AND battle damage packets anywhere on the map.

Every other race needs the packet to be in scanning range to see it.

This applies to SS-fired packets and battle scrap that is exlusively Super Stealth in origin. I've occassionally seen false rumors that SS mineral packets are cloaked. They are not.

Knowing that battles or wolf-lambing is going on over at the far side of the galaxy might have some diplomatic use.

Another thing: a PP that fires just a few Warp 16 scanning packets can get information overload in a busy game. The F3 report for fleets has a cutoff - roughly 1024 if I remember correctly. Entire races might be missing from your report. So choose the "dump to text file" option to make sure you can see everything.
