One further down mentioned the idea of duelling an advanced player. I am wondering how much interest there would be in forming a Blitz Duelling club here. Those of you who are concerned about player rankings would finally have a way to score yourselves. Here's how I propose it would work:

1. Only two players per game.
This way there is a clear-cut winner.

2. Games are hosted by one or the other player.
This is so they can play by direct email instead of tying up a slot on Autohost. This allows them to blitz if they so desire and to finish a game as rapidly or as slowly as they wish.

3. Both players must report results to the central clearing house (probably a location here on the Forum). This way if you win, you get a confirmation from the loser that you did. This might open up a can of worms, but we've got to have a certain level of trust among our peers. Honesty will be the best policy, and abuse of the reporting will be investigated (by me perhaps?).

4. Victory reports must be accompanied by a screen snapshot showing the in-game message: "The XXXXX have been declared the winner..."
This means that at the initial game creation a Victory Condition must be set and the game must be played to that specified Condition. No surrenders here. If you're not willing to play to the end of a game, don't start it.

5. If a player resigns from a game, he loses by default.
I'm not sure how to verify this yet (ideas?).

6. Players would be ranked in terms of number of games played divided by number of games won. The format would look something like this:

Player A: Games played: 5 Games won 3 Win%=60
Player B: Games played: 8 Games won 2 Win%=25
Player C: Games played: 10 Games won 3 Win%=33

7. Posting details about individual games is up to the players.
This way it doesn't bog down the rankings with other stats like PRT or specific game conditions.

8. As this is a duelling club, players would be expected to comport themselves as gentlemen (or ladies - are there any women playing Stars these days?).
Be respectful, take your losses (and your wins) with a modicum of professionalism, and don't cheat. This could be a lot of fun for everyone involved.
