Just when wars are going good a plague hits the machine shops. No problem. All you have to do is win the battles the next few years until production is back up. Avoid minefields and win win win. Look at all those good minerals piling up in the meanwhile.

Oh no, not another one of them! Plan your attacks well. Plan your defenses well. Hell, might as well plan everything well. If that's possible. Will it be one, two, three, four, five years?
To relieve the stress you might want to take three deep breaths. Or you can try this: Go to a teller machine and when the money comes out of the ATM, scream "I won!", "I won!" "3rd time this week!!!!! Rolling Eyes

No freigher movement
All freighters banned from usefulness for the next five years. This is not our fault, it is the plagues that did it. We are only the messenger, the plagues are the mess maker.
It would be most risky to try to move ships loaded with any cargo. Undesirable things are sure to happen. Freight has been known to eject into space at the most inconvenient time. Freighters have been know to literally come apart at the seams. Ever try moving through a vacuum with a seamless freighter? Not a pleasant experience. Wink

Better not try to use gates. They are faulty. You can jump but you can't land. If you go through a gate you will end up in an alternate dimension. And alternate dimensions are no fun.

"Time keeps on slippin', slippin', into the future..."
The favorite time warp plague returns yet again to bite the unwilling.
Time to stop fooling around. Time is fleeting... and good fleeting is in the timing... there is no future in the past... never put off today what you can do tomorrow, or the day after, or the day after that... Twisted Evil

And always remember: Wayne the chips are down the buffalo is empty. This has nothing to do with time. Just timing. Crazy

Seen this once before.
Reminder:
This plague forbids the use and possession of tech ships.
All prosecuting will be violated.
Now would be a good time to stop trading tech.

Traffic jam revisited.
2491 movement is possible in northwestern directions only.

PS: gates have no direction limits

Ships go north or west, travel is the best.
Ships go south blows food into the plague's mouth.
Ships go east arrivals are the least. Twisted Evil

2476 an old plague returns. All mine laying devices have been infected again.
Remember: New mines can explode when you least expect it. Ships can disappear and other strange things can happen. DON'T lay mines for the next five years.

2451 and another old plague has returned
Gate Lock
All gates once again inoperative. Do not try to gate. All ships gating will disappear.

What advice have we, only this:
If you wake up in the middle of the night, and discover that your
closet contains an alternate dimension?
Don't go in. You almost certainly will not be able to get back,
and alternate dimensions are almost never any fun. Remain calm
and go back to bed. Check your closet in the morning. If it
still contains an alternate dimension, nail it shut.

We know this is not much help with gates, but then closet doors are a sort of gate aren't they? And "will not be able to get back" is good advice though. Rolling Eyes

Have a nasty day! I love this galaxy. Twisted Evil

Good news my plagued bravehearts.
We have found a possible solution to your plague woes, especially the most difficult Research Plague.

If you have Windows Media Player on your system go to my page at

and click on picture next to "Go Crappy",
and listen to some good tips on handling the plagues. Cool

I will look forward to your comments. Laughing

Dogs of war and men of hate
With no cause, we don't discriminate
Discovery is to be disowned
Our currency is flesh and bone
Hell opened up and put on sale
Gather 'round and haggle
For hard cash, we will lie and deceive
Even our masters don't know the web we weave

One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world

Invisible transfers, long distance calls,
Hollow laughter in marble halls
Steps have been taken, a silent uproar
Has unleashed the dogs of war
You can't stop what has begun
Signed, sealed, they deliver oblivion
We all have a dark side, to say the least
And dealing in death is the nature of the beast

One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world

The dogs of war don't negotiate
The dogs of war won't capitulate,
They will take and you will give,
And you must die so that they may live
You can knock at any door,
But wherever you go, you know they've been there before
Well winners can lose and things can get strained
But whatever you change, you know the dogs remain.

One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world

James,

Are you still GMing this game? Last turn for some reason my x file was deemed corrupt by the autohost despite an 'upload successful' message. This means that not only have I wasted a good few hours moving stuff around but also I've missed the bleeding MT. In this instance I would have appreciated a regen but I don't think its too likely to happen now?!

Please let me (us) know if you are still able to GM Zared2?

Thanks
Drew

By official decree of House Settembrini-

If the Hirota do not resume control of their empire within 3 turns, then I will finish what the Cancer have started. If they do decide to return, then I will continue to pursue the Cancer to the edge of Hirota empire, relinquishing the Hirota's planets along the path.

The need for an alliance with the Culture has also come to an end. I will disengage my tech-trading ships, and I do not expect any further minelayers from them. I expect the current stable configuration of planets to be maintained, and although the Culture are not welcome to use my stargates, nor shall I use theirs, I will maintain an official 'friendly' relation with them.

These changes in relations do not extend to my current allies, the 4s and the Ur-Quan Korh-Ah. They are free to make their own relations.

One may speculate why I've chosen to disengage at this time, and the answer is that it's clear that I am containing the Cancer threat, with no real help from the Culture, while they grow strong. House Settembrini will remain the strongest race in this universe.

-Ludvico Settembrini
