I am not looking for the PRT that you think is the best in-game or what one you play the most I am looking for what one you believe has the highest "cool" factor. Please base your vote on a general description of the PRT and not how well that PRT is able to perform in a game.

There was a similar poll last year. Please vote in this old poll if you didn't already.

The poll that you are referring to is asking what PRT you play the most, which would deal with how a given race can perform in game. What I am trying to find out is the PRT that people think is the coolest. This should have nothing to do with how a given race perform's in a game, just how "cool" their special abilities are.

Dont ask me why JOAT is winning, but I voted for it too, im a little more surprised that few people use, people like to say JOAT has nothing to trade, not true. If you are a JOAT, you no doubt have elec norm or cheap, which most people take expensive, you have somethin to trade right there.

Inner Strength is obviously the coolest race in the Universe, and here is why:

This race is quite laid back, not overly aggressive, tends to over price their weapons, and will not even waste time building smart bombs. IS people tend to love to party Crazy and will often drop in on one of your planetary parties in the hopes of making new friends (they tend to get hurt feelings when all your colonists die at the sight of them though Crying or Very Sad ). This race has such a high "cool" factor that they have no problems with intergalactic travel, in fact they love zero gee procreation exercises and by the end of a long trip can overflow freighters of almost anysize. In their never ending quest for the coolest, greatest parties anywhere in the universe they have developed Tachyon detectors to ensure that they do not miss any small private gatherings that they might be able to join! Cheers

That is why I believe that Inner Strength races are the coolest Cool races in the Universe.

I think the SS are the coolest. First, their cloaking ability allows them to create havoc completely out of proportion to the size and strength of their race. Then they get free research and have all those super cool toys. I especially like the Robber Baron Scanner.

I played recently against a good SS player and he had me ready to pull out my hair. You can't get cooler than that IMHO. Now this is not saying it is the strongest race, but it is sure fun to play.

You dont talk about the stalkers in disco, do you???

no... cant be.... that few attacks i made were... to weak...

you earned the victory... i was no threat...

but yes - SS is cool if you survive long enough, and take
out the IS players, and get a good econ to make use of
all that nice toys... and play in larger than small universes.
(thats what i learned in that game... Sad )

anyway... yes... SS is great...

but as a matter of principle, i like PP most Very Happy

Robert,

Yes I was referring to the Stalkers. They were not a huge threat, but they had me pulling out my hair because of the hassle factor. All those mineral thieves and cloaked mine layers. And they were all battle speed 2 1/2 so they were very hard to kill even if I could find them. The amount of resources I spent to find them and kill them were 10 times what they cost you to build. Basically, you were a huge pain-in-the-@$$ Smile

Wow....

a compliment from you is worth more than the victory in the game...

Well, I did this one nice sneak from the west edge, and was
soooo lucky not to be seen while sneaking in... but the friendly SD minefiels killed all my chaff, bombers and SFX, so my fleet
was worth nothing in the end... Mad

If they had survived, it had been much more fun, but in the end
SS econ is not enough to win (in most games, from my limited experience)... but its about fun, not winning... hehe...

And I had the second wave of Nubian Mineral Thiefs ready as the game was over, I would have loved to see what you had done against that... when fighing SS the 512 fleet limit really hurts I think... (for all that scouts...)

Anyway, I guess your econ was 2-3 times bigger than mine, and without the help from the Furballs I would have been dogmeat sooo early...

But this is all about the coolest PRT, and from my single experience with SS - yes it is cool! But everybody fears you,
maybe except SD or IS, but nobody really likes you...
And you need to love micro management... but no fun without
micromanagement, is it???

Ok, talking too much again

have fun

Robert

IT - zzzzwapp, instant transport. UFO abduction Teleport
PP - Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy it doesn't take a genius. Shame
AR - the "DEATH STAR". Coolest sci-fi structure ever. Bounce
SS - probably the most fun to play. Grin
SD - boom, boom and er... boom. Explosives are fun. Peace_bow
CA - Hippies in space! Laughing
WM - can anyone say "AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH" while holding a really big gun/knife/beating instrument. Twisted Evil

Ooops, misspelled that one Who me? I'm a saint

With IS you have to take one more thing in consideration:
When a freighter 'overflows' in space, the people get dumped in space.
Every year this happens, but they keep on growing with equal numbers every year...

So WHO are dumped in space? The newly born (and maybe later on the old geezers)! Shame

Not so cool now eh Nana nana bubu

Silly carbon-based bipeds!

A proper gas or liquid-based race will simply expand to fill the available volume and then adjust in transit towards regaining optimum density.

None of this trivial and primitive gene-exchanging stuff. Our genome has already been perfected and requires no further random manipulation!

- The Rgonites

P.S. - our origin is lost, but legend tells of something referred to as "Hunter's Chili" being key...

..oh wait, this isn't the RP thread!

Shocked

IMO, no PRT is "coolest". Player makes the race. And "coolness" is an arbitrary and often silly, if not stupid, thing.

Oh fine, just spoil our fun Wink

Well, this poll has been up for a week now and it seems like SS and IT are becoming the favorites.

My personal choice was the IT's because it is cool to send a massive fleet from one corner of the galaxy to the other in the blink of an eye Teleport The AR's came a close second because of the fact that they are not limited by the laws of the universe as we know them UFO abduction Pretty cool if you ask me.

AR's not so cool. Push them fast enough and they just die. That's harsh.

True, but the living on a Starbase and avoiding those pesky planets thing is still kind of cool.

SS is definitely first.
WM is a close second.
-ff IS is kinda cool, too.
I've always wanted to play either -ff SS or -ff WM as well, but I've never worked up the guts to try it. I'll have to change that sometime this year.

Twisted Evil War Monger definatly Cool.

The abilty to see others ship designs is invaluable, both for counter designs and even good trade bait.
Now if I could only understand how to counterdesign Confused2
And also find someone willing to trade and remain freinds with a WM Smirk

PP is stronger than people tend to give it credit for. Not much of an econ race, but can give some very nasty surprises in close quarters. Having just gotten packet-mauled by a freakin' IT, I am one to speak...
