Wondering if there were any Stars! players out there who've already got their hands on a copy of Master of Orion III... and what they think about it.

Thanks,

I am interested in trying out MOO III but most likely will not get around to getting a copy of it until next winter. I am interested in hearing what other people have to say about it though.

I read a review of it where the author gave it a good score, but the author actually liked MOO2. I'm not sure if his opinion counts Wink

I'm waiting on some more reviews to come out...

I've read in several reviews that the diplomacy is absolutely useless as the computer players do whatever for no reason.

But the game is supposed to be outstanding in multiplayer. If I had a better computer and job, I'd buy it.

Hi!
I was very anxious to get MOO3, but after reading a lot of negative comments, I decided not to install it, despite a friend of mine offered me a free (pirated) copy from Kazaa.
It looks like the game will need a lot of polishing before it becomes a real sequel to great MoO1 and MoO2.

Yes, that's what I've experienced, too.

But Despise that from "free" copy I couldn't make fonts to
display right, I'm still waiting for it to become better and to
be worth buying.

As I used to be a maniac of MOO2, when I installed
MOO3 I expected a week of NO-SLEEP. But....
maybe my interest has cooled Smile it is somehow boring.
Too lots of graphics, and too litle of numbers, calculations
(that's why stars! (or galaxy) are the best!),
computer can automate all the tasks..... I feel like
sitting on the tip of the iceberg and unable to see the rest
of the processes.

Maybe It's only the first impression... I shall explore it more

MOO3 is a poor product. Fixed at 800 x 600 resolution.
The interface is absolutely frustrating, I spend my time trying to stop the AI controlling my race from doing stupid things.
I have only played 3 games up to about 200 turns.
It does have great depth but has little excitement.
The battle board is the worst I have seen.

Go to the forums at the official web site, they are huge and have much info.

Adding my 2cents,

I actually bought the game and played it for a few months... I would like to try it multiplayer... I believe its designed for the macromanager and for that reason, stars! players might not like it too much...

I recommend buying when it is cheaper. It is not worth the $50 (I actually bought it used $30).

I am not even interesting in buying it because it has not received good reviews from critics or the public. Personally, I will just stick with Stars! (and play Counter Strike online when I need to shoot something.)
