Actually, I've been thinking on that - The next voting poll will deal with economies - I haven't just decided how yet. Razz

I think all also make one for favorite game preferences. Wink Cool

Frankly, I had a hard time to put my vote in pools, Confused as I don't have much of favorites. I always pick xRTs that fit best within given game parameters.

I voted Hush-a-boom for this exact reason. It is the best fit as the best componet for all races, IMHO. Useless against AR...ofc.

I can pull out lots of specific PRT/LRT situation examples for "Better" uses of componets, but overall the Hushaboom shines.

Also, there are two designs of mini-morph-based ships the MT gives - one has the langston shell and one has the mega poly shell. One is the Probe and one is the Scout, although I don't remember which is which.

However, this probably doesn't matter, as I doubt people will choose ships as their preferred toy.

Yes, that is correct - there is the MT probe as well. However, I would choose MT ships as long as I knew that it was giving ships and could get around 40 million kt of minerals to the MT. MT's seem to give more ships for extra minerals and I would dearly love about 30 MT lifeboats in one fleet around that time of the game. Wink

MT Probe has been added.

I kind of prefer the MT cloak over the MT robe. But without the matching MT boots they both suck. Roll another one, just like the other one, you been hangin' on to it, and I sure would like a... aw shoot. Very Happy

Also my vote. They're the only tool for most races to get some installations on an opponent's planet intact.

My other two votes:

PRT: IS. If I'd have to enter a completelly unknown game I'd chose them. Those guys just have so many great toys and abilities in every stage of the game, for solo or team play, that they become almost too easy to play.

LRT: NAS. Great points, double the scan range (much easier to find those damn 95%+ cloaked SS terror ships Smile ), and pen scanners can very often be bought.

I can never take this. I'm to much the info junky. I know it is better, but I have to have my 98% cloaked Pen scan Nubs if the game takes that long. It's one of my many weakness in this game. Smile

And I just LOVE being invisible Very Happy Your NAS still won't find me. Let's see now - simple math - max 560ly space scanning - need to detect a 98% cloaked fleet within 11.2 Ly. I move my fleet to 12 ly from your HW - next turn BINGO - no HW. You sit there and say SH#T where the H&LL did that fleet come from Very Happy

Guess you know where I voted Wink

Does the MT give additional ships at that high a mineral input? I thought gifts were capped with the highest useful amount of minerals being 10000kT.

I'm not sure about that. It would have to be extensively tested. Someone once mentioned it somewhere but I also seem to recall someone else sending around 15,000kt for tech levels. The main problem with the ships is that the MT giving out ships doesn't give teh same ships to each player - i.e. you may get MT probes while I get MT Lifeboats - hehe Lucky me Very Happy

I remember testing that if you generate the MT ship trade multiple times over you get different ships and different amounts of ships each time. Only thing that seemed to be sure is that you get ships if MT trades ships. I do not remember what version of stars it was.

That makes perfect sense Kotk,

I do happen to know that when an MT hands out ships he doesn't necessarily give the same to each player. I have been in games where I received MT scouts and my ally received MT Lifeboats from the same MT. As with tech levels, you can influence how many ships you sending more minerals.

There is obviously a random number generator used to determine what type of ship is handed out for a trade when the trader is handing out ships. I'd love to know the way the code is designed to determine what specific tech levels it hands out when it hands out tech.
