what type of computer would you use?

I just got windows XP. Despite having a few problems with my really old dos games and stars briefly it's wonderful. I've heard wonderful things about linux systems but for the time being (I'm in the clutches of microsoft aint I?) I'm happy with whats familiar. I mean once I turned off all the cartoon style graphics WinXP just looks like windows 2000 - only it works.

Windows XP gets my vote too. I think it's a wonderful OS as long as you've built your computer with late components designed for XP.

As for upgrading to Windows XP from Win 95 or Win 98 on a system 2years or older, probably not a great idea.

And kiss those old DOS games goodbye forever, unless you want to use a dual boot system. I bid a fond farewell to my old Master of Orion game (god i used to love that game).

It's the little things in XP that make it so wonderful. All those sweet little touches. Like when I plug in my digicam it detects and has a nice selection of options for me to pick from as to what to do with my pics.

Also if you turn off all the graphical poop it stops looking like Fisher Price's "My First OS" and more like windows 2000 / NT

WinXP designers for sure are somehow related with Teletubbie designers.

Theres a little child in all of us. WinXP is like the OS version of simpsons. It looks like a kiddy show but there all the bits for adults in there.

They, so XP looks good and is better than any previous version of Windows(technical sense).

Technical: Everything else beats windows windows=unstable as h**l

Ease of Use: Mac OS/X and Suse Linux are the same as XP (with the exception of Nvidia stuff for Suse...) The Os/X has the nifty scroll bar of prgrams at screens bottom.

Oh and my 2 year old windows ME computer works fine with XP (though I think you meant 3-6 years old 98/95 stuff.

I have had some problems with xp but only with starting and shutting down dos legacy programs. Only a few blue screens.
I have even gotten my old copy of Master of Orion to run with sound support. Master of Magic still has no sound. LOL but better than 98. I couldn't get MOM to run at all.
Boy, I had a hard choice, but finally choose Windows. I like unix/linux though as a close second.
