Hi.

Quick question.

Is there a standard for setting a player inactive if they miss "x" number of turns, or is that up to the discretion of a host on a case-by-case basis? I'm just curious because I've never played an autohost game before so I don't know what to expect.

(I'm not talking about setting them inactive permanently, just setting it so if everyone else is turned in it doesn't wait for them).

Cheers
Hilton

I usually, as a host, allow up to five missed moves before setting a player inactive, at that time they stay inactive... you may note I personally am inactive (although I haven't missed a move) However, I am aware of extenuating circumstances, and am willing to listen to reason Wink

yep...

it was OK when someone skipped with the 24 hour schedule..

-- i mean - how many hours could we wait??

but now - with (almost) everyone in and another 30 hours to go...

people that continually skip turns COULD get aggravating!

Skipped Turn Limit[ 8 votes ]
1. Five Turns 1 / 13%
2. Four Turns 1 / 13%
3. Three Turns 6 / 75%

Ok, how many turns skipped before I set a player inactive?

Re: skipping turns

With the switch to max-48 hour gens, I think the 3 turn-limit should be sufficient. That means almost a full week of someone missing regularly. Anyone having that type of trouble getting a single turn in is not likely to continue much longer (if at all).

Along those lines, donjon, I'd like to suggest you try to find replacements for MIA players as quickly as possible. Leaving a cluster undefended will mean unfair advantages for players adjacent to it. I'm enjoying this game a bunch and would like to see it heavily contested instead of someone getting a free lunch because another player drops out.

BTW, I didn't, um, like, damage anyone with my scanning packets, did I? Shocked I am, after all, timid and don't want to wreak any havoc among you. Twisted Evil Hmm. Wreak. What a funny word. You notice that if you keep saying it, it loses all its meaning? Wreak. Whenever anyone misses a turn, all PP players should toss all their minerals at the missing players homeworld.

Generally when someone gets in the habbit of missing turns, I start to think of them as a target! Twisted Evil

OK, general feeling is that we should move to 3 turns missed moves a player to inactive... this does not mean you cannot play, just that you don't get notified when a gen happens, and that you don't hold up a gen.

If you wish to be set back to active, come to me with a good reason and I will. If not, I will start searching for a replacement player for your race.

Seems very fair, I think I can live by this rule. I'll be sure to notify someone if I intend dying or otherwise disappearing.

Oh yeah, like the guy in the middle is going to be annoyed if a few people drop out? "Hmm, I'll take this cluster and THIS cluster..."

You didn't, but you nicely kickstarted my Germanium-poor colony without me having to send a second freighter. Perhaps I can repay you somehow kind EDog? Smile

It's odd you should mention that, because I've always noticed that about the word Wall. Perhaps it's because it starts with a W?
