All this talk about the greatness of JOAT Rolling Eyes Wink has me thinking about an interesting possible design:

The Gerbils
IFE, NRSE, OBRM, NAS
Grav and Temp immune, rad 6 to 26 (1 in 5)
15% growth
1000 resources, 5/25/5 factories, 10/3/11 mines
weapons, con, elec cheap
ene normal
prop, bio expensive (tech 4 not checked)
5 points to surface minerals

Due to the JOAT's innate 20% more pop per planet and the OBRM, this race could ramp up quickly despite the 15% growth for a -f race - especially with the 2 immunities. And the low rad allows for more potential non-overlapping habs with allies.

One thing about -f JOATs in general is that the starting tech 3 really allows them to gain some pretty impressive tech more quickly than anyone else.

Well, well. This race IS competitve. I just finished a test bed - small, packed, ACCBSS, max minerals, etc. universe and got 31k@2450. I also had 109 battleships of the following design made by 2464:

Interspace 10, overthruster
20 Armageddon Missiles
6 Battle Nexi
8 Bear Neutrino Barriers
6 Valanium Armors

Not too bad, eh? Cool

Not bad at all. A bit scary, in fact. Shocked

That double immunity must have helped available greens and terra ramp up a LOT.

Uh oh! Idea alert! Idea I'll have to get back to youz guyz.

I tested this race cept with the rad all the way to the right, I think you have more planets with the rad all the way to the right, in a meduim normal it gets green planets easily, and you have no use for TT, Razz but I took CE and not NRSE, had quite a few planets, should start the whole thing all over again, this time play seriosly.

ok, re-tested this race with 18% GR, while you can only take 2 cheap, even with and IFE and ISB, I really dont find two years till 500K on your HW worth 200 RW points better spent elsewhere, into making it more competetive in the LATE game era, I mean, sure you also get 10K of pop more than you would taking 15% GR, I am continuing to test these Bi-Immune races, which I find competetive.

I would not take CE. CE is good on the design wizard, not so good in tactics.

Don't be tempted, just say no.

well CE may cause some problems, I would have to lose either ISB or IFE, and without either of em can cause more of a slow down than CE, well know which is better after the quick duel using an 18% and 15% with bone, once he replys to my e-mail that is.

I've tried a similar design w/ 2 cheap and 17%. I'm pretty sure that one hit 40k by 50 in the low MM test I did.

Ramped very nicely, but ran out of planets quite fast too.
