Folks, we have a space demolition race to deal with -- EDog's "Riot Grrlz" has 3 mini-mine layer hulls a couple turns directly out from the planet "Saddam". I just took his colony from him, so he's probably a little irritated with me and I expect that he's going to try to inhibit my fleet movements. Hopefully my destroyer can prevent them from causing me too much grief, but I've had bad experiences with an SD enemy before so I'm going to need Weaps5 soon.

Not much new this turn. Now at Weap 2.
I sent out a colony ship to K9. I hope nobody else has eyes on it. I know it's green for the Atreides, but this is only the second green I've seen so far.

Andrew, do you think Saddam is the homeworld of the Riot Grrlz? Or is Double Tall Skinny still our best bet?

The current path of 2 of those minelayers traces directly back to Saddam. Conclude from that what you will.

First level of weapons coming this turn. Second level next turn. After that I'm going to dump for one year into construction and get frigates - so I can make frigates in 2415, and transfer con tech in 2416 and 2417. Then I'll go back to weapon tech transfers.

Cool? Can you hold on for that long? How are we coming on Energy tech? Probably need to get all the way up to en10 to trade effectively. How about gates? Are people going to be able to get gates up soon? We need to start thinking about our gate network so that I can get some warships into the action.

Dan

Ok, this turn is taking too long, I'm having second thoughts on my research strategy. I don't think it makes sense for me to push to get those frigates yet... not until you guys can get the Croby Sharmor... and that's still a ways off. You're probably better off taking my weapon 5 and making mini-gun destroyers - don't you think?

I'd much rather build more factories for a turn or two, rather than dump all my resources into research at this time.

Of course, that first level of construction would help you to get your gates up... I don't know... How about three turns of weapon scrapping, to get most of you up to level 6, then I dump into construction for frigates... then back to construction.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Or am I completely over analyzing it??

Alan should probably start trading his energy tech.. with the wolverine shield.. to get people up to en6.. either setting up his own wolf/lamb site, or sending some of his scouts to Twelfth Man where we now have a site.

I'm now setting up 4 wolf/lamb sites to maximize chances of tech transfer. They'll be in space, not at a planet. I'm giving our WM race the "wolf" ships, and the rest just have scouts to watch the battle. You don't actually need to attack to get tech. You can just be an observer and still get tech. So by having wolf and watchers, it's cheaper and less people need to worry about setting attack orders.

Crud. I have never done a wolf/lamb trade... should have read the starfaq a little better... I was thinking it was per part, not per battle event. I'm going to set up some more wolf/lamb sites for down near me too.

Thanks for the post Alan.

... I also noticed that you can only gain one level of tech per method of trading... so we need to coordinate our wolf/lamb so that we don't waste the effort... and we might also want to trade via scrapping when we get some stargates up so that we can gain multiple levels of tech via trading in the same turn.
