Yikes! i'm away for a few days and you all grab for the midpile!
Hey... here's mine!

Altoid you misread my post! i said i would continue building a fleet and come and get you if you were not serious in stopping and not pull back! ... (makes sense to me !?!)

Anyways i cant see another recourse for yourself so be assured i dont take it personally it is only a game!

But i must stress the yapyaps are not very far from you points wise, my 4% HE monster got a little thumped on the borders by you which severely stunted my growth curve but it did not stop , i'll bet you you will not do so well attacking my core worlds!
i'm sure could make at least 3rd place by 2520 ...
But in the interest of fairness 3 on 2 is just about numbers! so i cant blame you for not wanting to continue ...

Thanks sally for the 5 way inclusion, my race just did'nt quite make the grade so i'll take the spot but i'll abide by any decision made afterall its the rank that counts and currently i'm fifth!

Please a minute of silence ...
the yapyap-HEs will be officially retired from active service ... blooming slowcoaches! *sulk*

If you flat out lie about something and the other person finds out, then all of your communications are to them are worthless because anything you say could be a lie.

It's a radical stance. Note that your relation with the player can change during the game. All should be assessed in the context of current situation.

And finally, are you blaming SS race of being sneaky? Come on, it's like expecting WM of being a peace-loving.

Radical? Maybe, but I'm not talking being sneaky or misleading someone about tech levels. I'm talking about spending a good portion of time pretending to be honest and friendly, making formal agreements and trading, and then flat out lying. I accept that there is strategic value in an action like this, but once a person does something like that they shouldn't expect to have useful diplomatic relations with the player they deceived for the duration of the game. Can you have anything more then a cautious truce with someone that you have zero trust in?

I really haven't seen any community wide tracking of people who have broken formal agreements. I don't think there's a list you can check for past backstabbers or any way to really maintain such a thing without people arguing about it or simply changing their identity. Actually, it seems that people will forgive it as long as you don't make a habit of it. I've even seen posts where people say that it's a reasonable thing to do if it will win you the game. So until there is some kind of enforcement policy I really don't see how formal agreements are any different then any other diplomatic communications. They just have fancier words.

Slightly off topic, I have been wondering something, from your perspective at what point does destroying someone's planets and fleets actually become an attack?

Hey you the one attacking dude! Sheesh you stop and there is no war ... well until i build my fleet that is *grin*... ok you had better leave my space if you're serious! ... i will then turn my fleet(s) away from thier intended purposes(s)

Well, to me it looks like I can back off and the fight will stop until your fleet is even bigger. But I can see how it could go the other way too. I suppose it's too late now.

Our little fight has become a moot point now that the YapYaps have 2 big allies Twisted Evil and the Altoids have none. Sad
It's really only a matter of time before your new pals send their massive fleets to destroy the beautiful Altoid civilization. Maybe we should attack the Hirota instead....

If you're talking in general, then in some situations you would have a most valid point.
If you're talking about my actions and diplomacy throughout the game then I take insult at your words and consider it "flaming".

Please note that the Cheekybuggers tried on numerous occasions to trade with Yourselves, Weader, Hirota, Luap's and had little or no success.
Cheekybuggers also didn't have any formal agreements with the Luap's at the time of attack (and yes of course it was an attack, we're not claiming otherwise).

You didn't mention my name in your reply but given the context of this discussion, it sure sounds like you're talking about me or my race. It also sounds like you're personalising it again.
"If" you are indeed talking about me then that is one of the examples you asked for in an earlier forum posting, of when you've caused offence (sorry I've been too busy to look through previous postings to find more, but will do so if you further request).

If you're not talking about my diplomacy or actions, then sorry for taking it the wrong way !

Regards - Steve
