Tech trading

I was just thinking about tech trading, and how at this point in the game it seems like we can't do it. Most of us haven't seen each other. Then I had a weird idea. Perhaps this is common knowledge in the Stars! community, so please bear with me if it is. I don't keep up to date with all the newfangled strategies.

I was thinking that if you build a weapon frigate for your ally, transfer it to him, and he's set you as enemy, it'll blast whatever else you've got at that point in space. i.e. You can set up wolf/lamb tech trading with very little coordination from your ally (he just has to set you as enemy). Alternatively if he sets attack orders appropriately on the ship, he doesn't need to set you as enemy. He doesn't even need to have seen you yet.

I can't see how this wouldn't work. Any thoughts?

Well, since nobody's replied, I'll assume this should work fine. Heck, it's probably common knowledge. Over the next few turns I'll start setting this up (once I get a bit further with my Energy tech). I'll be transferring a few fleets to each of you. I'll set up 4 or 5 wolf/lamb sites to increase the odds. Then I'll be able to pass on Energy, Construction and Bio tech to all of you quite quickly. Dan, since you've got cheap weapons, you should probably set up something similar.

Now that I have this warship from the WM what should I set its orders to? Kill all Chee ships? Or do I actually have to set you as an enemy?

Copy the default orders, change the ~Attack command to "Attack Angst" from "Attack Enemies and Neutrals" save the command as someting sensible (Like Attack Angst) then give your Yak that order.
