Well, with the evil Nexus declaring war, you would think I would retire a la Ygrini et Weaderuliumer.

Of course, if you knew me, you would know I wouldn't do anything quite so predictable.

Yes, I am not going to win in a toe to toe struggle with the Nexus, but I can at least cause some damage.

If one Nexus ship is damaged, that's a victory. You see, I don't care if I win. What I care about is giving everyone else the best chance to get 1st,2nd and 3rd against the Nexus, and make sure this arrogant so and so is out of the game.

So, if any of you species wants intelligence on the Nexus, any technology I can offer, minerals etc, please feel free to ask. The one caveat is that you will have to declare your intent to go to war with the Nexus. For most of you, that is hardly a great problem.

Greetings everyone.

We find Hirotan message to be pretty pathetic. More or less same pathetic as their warfleets.
Our war is not a possessive war. We have very little interest in grabbing Hirotan planets. Our main goal is to eliminate the threat they pose. From the very first contact they were nothing but hostile towards us and we cannot let them plot against us until it is too late.
To any race which join us in the fight against this evil species, we offer to share any Hirotan planets you are able to conquer and in addition some planets you find valuable for you which will be conquered by us. We hate to promise something we have not got yet, but with that weak resistance we encountered we are very positive Hirota's days are numbered.

Kind regards,
Nexus One.

Greetings everyone.

So why do you think we are planning to attack? Honestly, your arguement is hypocritical. You say the "evil" Hirota plan to attack and then you say we don't have the firepower? That not only makes you sound hypocritical, it gives the impression you expect other players to be so stupid to accept your pack of lies.

It ain't just me sunshine. Any species with sense will try and take you down if they have any desire to win. Of course, I am in the unique position of not caring if I win.

How about this for a counter offer then? We will withdraw all but a token colony from any worlds desired by any species which signals it's intent to go to war in concert with other species against the Nexus.

Yes, thats right folks The Hirota will actually help you invade Hirotan colonies if you agree to declare war on the Nexus.

Hang on, this is the same species that is so threatening? Yeah, your arguement is full of consistency Rolling Eyes

like I've said, if I win or not isn't important (in fact, I am having trouble making time for all the games I am in), but giving everyone else a chance of forcing you to lose is important. I'm not looking at this game for personal victory for the Hirota - I'm looking at it now as defeat for the Nexus.

Yeah well, don't ever accuse me of rolling over and dying. Us Hirota are made of Sterner stuff.

I think it is obvious that decision to attack is made before the battle. As IS we have no power to see other designs before the battle. It is also obvious why we call your fleet pathetic after smashing it without a scratch, not what we in fact expected. It is clear for everyone and we know others are not stupid to understand it.
As mentioned in-game message, we expected you to attack us, as you started to sweep our minefields in open space and keep on concentrating FFs and CCs lately on the border planets.

Out of character: I cannot beat the feeling you take/began to take this game too personally. Pity. It supposed to be fun after all. I hope it is a fight only between Nexus and Hirota, not between me and you.

Why-Oh-Why Cant anyone just try and fight back? Confused

There is more to war than just having big ships with high tech.

Has anyone taken the time to read Operational Stars! by example? It clearly points out that strategy is just as important. And diplomacy doesnt hurt either.

Appahrently a ally existed, but was not asked for help? Shocked

Maybe too many games isnt a thing to gloat about. Rolling Eyes

No actually stuff that idea!

Hirota I cannot see any use to this alliance, I will rather be breaking that then messing with another race I've only ever been on good terms with!

You will be set to enemy in 2469!

I din't ask you to do anything, but if you are so offended by things then go ahead. Just remember who invaded who, who invaded the Hirota, and you said you wouldn't be ready for a war for 20 years.

Oh gosh, I shouldn't have said that should I? Embarassed Twisted Evil

I'm dropping out. Sad

Um is'nt that precisely the point! Ask your ally for help!

Um i got BB's just sitting in space rusting ... and the ability to build many if needed~! i just keep slots open for ships with better tech components!

I unfortunately saw the attack too late else i would have assisted ... and you said nothing? Ask next time!

Oh if you think what you said will hurt, i got news for you ...

Um one more thing , for the record how manytimes did we as allies communicate in this game? one hand of fingers should suffice ...

You may not take this game seriously but what your allies that rely on you? - naughty naughty!

Dropping out? Crying or Very Sad
Oh well we should have a list of those who just drop out of games ... i'd certainly consult it before choosing to spend an hour a day on a game ...

Not really sure how you went from wanting to put all your effort into hurting Nexus to quitting. Although, your original announcement did seem a bit like quitting anyhow. It's not like you are dead already. Stay in the game, talk to people privately. Learn some diplomacy skills.

Granted, it sucks if you have an ally who turns on you, but it's no reason to quit. If anything I would go attack that ally. Quitting screws up the game for everyone else. From my perspective I wouldn't want to play a game with someone who has quit before. IMHO, That's worse then backstabbing. At least with someone who has betrayed you before you know to be on guard and you can treat them appropriately.

Hmm can you tell I'm also a little bitter because I only got 1 good planet when MG quit.

Um... James if you're going to quit you should do the courteous thing and find a replacement.
We've already had two drop outs and a third means that almost half the players have left and not considered the rest of us.

Anyhow, why would you quit ?
You had an ally whom you obviously didn't communicate with enough and you now have the Luap's supporting your cause.
It seems to me that the level of support in our galaxy for your race is (or rather was) very good. Confused

I've already sent an email to Sally so hopefully a substitute player can be found.

Regards - Steve
