The final count on planet grouping is between 19 and 21 planets per cluster. A practice universe with bitmap is here.

Yes I will play, still doubting between two possible races though. When the poll for random ON/OFF is closed, it might be good to repost all rules/choices to make sure there is no confusion.

I'm okay with random events except for the MT. In a game without allies to help one catch the MT, the toys and/or the tech advances he hands out can seriously unbalance the game.
My suggestion would be to have random events on, but to come to a gentlemens' agreement that nobody gives minerals to the MT.
Accordingly, I've voted for random events.

While I quite like the MT, I'd be happy with that - it can turn this sort of game into a bit of a lottery.

I agree you can have bad luck, but there is also effort and planning required...

personally I would say either no events, or all events, but let's leave it up to the host to take a decision

No "Kill Starbase" targeting orders[ 5 votes ]
1. Kill them, kill them all! 2 / 40%

Rules and Poll results:

Race restrictions: CA and IT are banned, Joat cannot take NAS. You cannot take HE factoryless. This means you cannot have factories worse than the default of 10/10/10 and no GR above 10(20). Races that have previously been banned from DD's will be banned in this game.
Race names, including the plural version must be unique

Comms: This is a non-comm game. Players will be listed in the forum as participating, but no player names will be announced/listed in game. There is no communication allowed between races.

Universe: Universe will be medium dense, with clusters of ~20 planets at each player start. Each race starts in a small pocket of planets, and a large bucket of planets in the middle. Roughly 100-130 ly between rims. This is similar in size to the last couple of games I've run.

Other game settings are as follows:

- Distant players position
- AccBBS
- random events ON
- PPS off until 2500.

Standard cheat disclaimer, which means that the following cheats are allowed:

- chaff
- split fleet dodge
- merge fleets after gating
- Mine damage dodge

0800 GMT MTWTF through 2430. After 2430 the game will switch to M-W-F. After 2475 the game will switch to M-Th.

Condition of victory, PPS being turned on at 2500 and then a vote. If there is no clear victor, keep playing until there is a clear victor by vote.

We did also have a request for no Kill Starbase orders, to allow room for an AR. Quick poll (results by Thursday please) to verify.

Regarding the "Kill Starbase" order I am happy to vote for this to make room for an AR, but I might still want to use "kill starbase" for other races! I am not sure how the yes/no vote caters for this view.

I think this might be a good compromise: no kill SB when moving to a planet occupied by an AR, fine against others.

(and no pretending you don't know who is AR Smile )

Game Rules: Standard cheat disclaimer, which means that the following cheats are spelled out below

Repair after gating, chaff, ISB trumps IT gate scanning, split fleet dodge are allowed.
Mine damage dodge and mine damage allocation are allowed.
Do not cause target list overload: do not cause more than 100 of your fleets to be at any one location.
Do not cause battleboard overflow: do not send more than 75 of your tokens into a battle (merge happens after battle).
Do not put alpha or beta torps on ships with more than two engines.
AR may build up to 6 cheap colonizers (Colonize without Colonizer), anytime up to 2415.

Battle:

- No "Kill Starbase" orders against AR

Schedule:

Matas got his files in on time, so yes it's an 8-player game. This is a non-comm game, and please understand that if any infractions are found, I will assume it's not the first one (just the first one I've seen) and will replace both players. I try hard to be as fair to y'all as I'd like a host to be with me.

To be overly specific, since there are two new players here:

All players must be set to Enemy, no exceptions.
Zero trade, scrapping, or NAPs, of course.
NO in-game or out of game messages with other players regarding the game.

Several of you are playing in PV, but you're experienced enough that I have some faith here.

According to the rules posted initially, we would switch to three turns a week as of coming Monday.
Personally, the micromanagement isn't really killing me yet. I'd be willing to submit turns MTWF for a while longer.

Maybe we can put this to a vote? My suggestion would be continuing as is until one of the players lets the host know that he wants to switch to M-W-F.

Of course, if even one player disagrees to the proposal, we go ahead as planned and change the schedule on Monday.
