Does anyone know how to get music playing using the Music option on the Command menu? Where should the music files be put?

Thanks Very Happy

Are you speaking of music in Stars!? If so, then that must be the v2.7 version of Stars!, which does not have the latest patch version available to it. I believe it could play audio CD tracks, as well as sounds in battles.

To be compatible with the Stars! turn server here on Stars! AutoHost, you have to use Stars! v2.6jrc4 patch version (http://starsautohost.org/files/stars26jrc4.zip). Unfortunately, Stars! v2.6 does not have music or sound as an option.

OK thanks Ron,

I have downloaded the version you linked and hopefully I'll be able to join a game. The version I have is indeed 2.7i boxed retail version

FYI, v2.6 and v2.7 were completely play compatible with each other until the Jrc4 patch was released for v2.6.

There is a Jrc3 patch for v2.7, but the Jrc4 patch fixed some annoying bugs and is the latest one.

In space no-one can hear you hum, or scream as you are blasted to oblivion.

Unless you're humming at a very low pitch.

(The criterion is that for the wave model of sound to be reasonably accurate, the wavelength of the sound must significantly exceed the mean free path - the distance a molecule or atom travels between collisions. The interplanetary medium has a very large mean free path, larger than the diameter of the Earth, so only the deepest sounds can exist.)

Well, that's obviously because you hummed at the wrong frequency! Laughing
