Hi!
Game AtSR2, announced at http://starsautohost.org/sahforum2/index.php?t=msg&th=54 94&start=0&rid=239&S=fe3078e8f5946dd3c32691b26de 68b0c ended ahead of time due to huge lead of Rising Force, the WM race played by Hank.
Game should proclaim a winner at turn 100, but as a host I had access to all game files and have seen the WM race has at turn 80 already taken about a third of a medium universe, clearly running way ahead of other players (had nearly as much resources as the rest of players together). Only one of remaining three players was actively fighting him, the second one was in war with the third one and not able to really fight him and the third one was not the WM's neighbour. Seeing that situation, and since this was a no-com game, so no possibility to organize aliance against him, it became clear to me no one can really stop WM to achieve victory conditions at turn 100.
Based on this I decided to make huge lead of WM known to other players. In retrospect I see I should have done this in a more subtle way, than my "matter-of-fact" message I've sent to them was. This has made game to end in a rather clumsy way, for which I as host appologize.
Nevertheless, I should congratulate remaining players for the dedication they showed - game never slowed down from 26 hours per turn. Kudos also to Hank, that made his WM race a real monster, effectively removing from the game 3 out of 4 "dead" players.
I'd also like to invite all players to share their thoughts and experiences with this game with our community. WRT the large discussion that followed my clumsy "the-end-is-near" message, there should be quite some ideas to share.
BR, Iztok

I have been wiped out by the winner of the game - congratulations, Hank - but the truth is that I've been aware of my defeat much before the first clashes started between our ships.
I was stuck in the corner of the galaxy for two main reasons: there were huge gap in the "south" and I was to early in propulsion to go through this empty space. Also I have been engaged in heavy fight with the BoomBooms (SD race), so I was forced to research Weapons rather than the engines. It is impossible to fight the SD with "pure invasion", which was my plan for early game because of my gateways and I also found very difficult to break through SD minefields before researching gatlings.
Summarizing this: From the early game I was stuck and unable to expand the economy. By the moment I have lost the competition with the SD I knew that the fall of my Tutiron empire is only the matter of time. The only proper tactic was to ally the SD (if I guess it properly, our habs were quite different, so we could share the same space easily). Of course it was impossible due to lack of communication.
I have had proposed to allow diplomacy before the game had started and I propose it now, for the future "All the Simple Races" games. I think that this will make the game more interesting, especially for the beginner players like me, because of much better chances of longer survival. I think that I'm not the only person who plays the Stars! for gaining experience also, not only to "win or die"
What do You think, guys?

Is it feasible to get a 5 year animated universe map / the game files uploaded to dropbox and shared with everyone?
I know my minefields.. but I'm a chaff sweeper.
I used to curse when I got stuck in traffic... till I realised I AM traffic.Report message to a moderator
