A couple of people have decided to add on to my previous work with doing an open-source Stars! API (in Java and python). I decided to start an 'organization' at github to keep track of any work:

Since we are so small in number and program only at our whims, I decided that anyone can have access to these projects to add stuff (so I don't have to manage pull requests). Just ask for access (send me an e-mail) and I'll give it.

The Java version of the API is becoming much more complete thanks to schneck (especially recently).

The last days, I have written a small tool to this api (starsapi, the java version), called GalaxyViewer.
You can now view a game without opening stars (well, only the planets at the moment, but thanx to schneks work it will be able to get planet info from all players if h/m-files are available). More info/fleets will probably come in later versions, maybe I will even make an android version so you can check your game on the fly Smile
I will also make runnable jar-files later on, for now you have to check out the source.
And I have also published GalaxyAnimator, a tool where you get an animation over planet-progress if you have stored the files for multiple turns in subdirectories. Almost like the old civilization 1 end-of-game-animation Wink

Just chiming in to say thanks. I picked up my own clone project again in december (somewhat of a learning project) and I greatly appreciate the continued availability of real stars info.
