Yes.

Try to pair with jscoble or bring your own ally.

We have our six teams:

Rolf/ManicLurch
Mac/LittleEddie
Lucjan/Asmodai
craebild/theen
vmanuel/NeilHoward
ccmaster/BrainDead

Lets start work on racefiles now. Send your racefiles to skoormit for the game setup. Do not send racefiles to me as I am playing in this game. We are playing with the original rule set, we did not modify them. The only thing we did was clarify that mine damage dodge is allowed.

How about we set a deadline for next Tuesday to have racefiles in.

There is one thing we haven't discussed, that is when turn gen should happen. We know it will be MTWTF until about 2430, but which time of the day ?

1 am GTM would suit me fine, and I think that would also be fine with theen - That would be 2 am for theen and 3 an for me when we are into daylight savings time (Europe goes to daylight savings time the night between Saturday March 29th and Sunday March 30th). Daylight savings time has already started in the US, as those who live there have surely noticed.

What gen time will suit the rest of the teams best ?

You are right, we didn't talk about that. 1 am GMT is what we used in DD5 and it seemed to work out. It is what Rolf and I would prefer. How does this time work for everyone else?

If anyone would like a different gen time, now is the time to speak up.

I would say "Standard cheats disclaimer" means anything not specifically listed as allowed is banned, and Colonize without Colonizer is not listed as allowed.

That is also how I would prefer it to be, it is not a good thing to have to assume that any freighter etc. with a Mech or GP slot empty could be capable of colonizing.

Ah - you mean a coloniser hull without the module?

That should be fine - but be really careful to use a blank hull rather than taking a coloniser and removing the module - or better still, give it a fuel tank...

I have no problem with using any ship hull with empty slots on them, but

If your going to colonize a planet you must use a Colonization Module or Orbital Construction Module to take control of a planet that's not inhabited. For an inhabited planet it must be through warfare by either Ground Combat or killing off the other players population and then using a Module.

This basically forces the players to make sure their chaff is way down on the design list, and if it isn't, no designs further down the list should be on the same fleet with chaff (lest they trigger the mine hit, and dodge the resulting damage because the chaff is higher than them). Unintentional (i.e. without the purpose of pure minesweeping) occurences might cause some players to cry foul

But only if just a single chaff ship is lost to the mine hit. Losing thousands of chaff to a mine hit shouldn't be considered "dodging". Sherlock

And yes, spotting several minefield-braving fleets all "shielded" with a single chaff ship that also happens to have the lowest design-id should be easy to police. Twisted Evil

Making sure chaff is at the bottom of the design list should be easy.

The moment it is possible to design chaff (even if that is far before chaff is any use) you fill up the design slots with "dummy" designs so there is only one design slot left, design the chaff, and then delete the "dummy" designs. That should leave the chaff in the last design slot.

Or will it ?

It may be that it will be necessary to build one each of each of the "dummy" designs and one chaff to ensure that the chaff is in the last design slot.

That should be fairly easy to test, though.

But didn't ManicLurch say that mine damage dodge (where 4/5 of the damage is taken by a single cheap ship) is allowed, which means that discussing how to avoid mine damage dodge is irrelevant ?

skoormit,

How will you distribute our HWs (spoke and hub, or ring)?

Also, will you remap the stars into a circle, so that no one gets a corner that is harder to contest?

When you host do you usually look at number of habitable worlds nearby or avg mineral conce in each player's neighbourhood?

That leads to two things that should be clarified.

Is that midnight the night between March 31st and April 1st, or is it midnight the night between April 1st and April 2nd ?

I assume you mean midnight GMT (also known as UTC), the time used on the game pages ? The forum pages display times in the clock the member chooses.
