No deadline yet. We have seven players of a maximum of eight, and we need to discuss a possible schedule issue.

If all players are willing to start with seven, I will set a deadline.

What we need's a few good taters.

Eight players have now expressed interest in the game.
Theen will not be able to start at this time.
Of the other seven, four signed up in the last few days, and the other three have all confirmed that they are still interested.

Player list:

ludek (added 2/14) (confirmed 4/16) (will require a modification to the proposed schedule; see below)
nmid (added 2/26) (confirmed 4/15) (will play comms OR no-comms)
Asmodai (added 3/7) (confirmed 4/15) (prefers no-comms; will play comms)
trader (added 4/13) (prefers no-comms; will play comms) (don't forget to email him; he doesn't check the forums often)
Taka Tuka (added 4/14) (will play comms OR no-comms)
CrazyBS (added 4/15)
beanspoon (added 4/15)

theen (added 2/26) (only if game starts after ATSR2 ends) (will play comms AND no-comms)

host for the next game: skoormit

ludek would like to play in the game, but his current work schedule does not allow time for him to play on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
In the very early game when turns are short and simple, this would not be a problem for him.
After that, to accomodate ludek we would need to switch to a schedule that is in some way different from the "50 hours per turn" specified in the game advert.
Players, please discuss your thoughts on the best way to handle this.

First, I'd suggest we try to get the game going earlier rather than later, there seems to be some momentum so we should strike while the iron is hot.

I'm fine with adjusting the schedule as per Ludek's request. However, I'd like to point out to him, if he hasn't played a no comm game before, that these are MUCH quicker to play. Diplomacy and joint operations are fun and challenging but they suck up a lot of time. Just banging in a turn is relatively simple, especially as the galaxy size precludes a big empire. The limited workload is definitely an attractive feature of this set up.

Testbed them Wink
If you can describe your strategy and reasons for picking/not picking each thing in the RW then you're probably OK

If you mean check them for compliance with the rules for this game, I can do that.

If you mean check them for purposes of providing advice on how they might be improved to suit this game, I should not do that. Perhaps someone else who has played in one of the first two games will, if you ask nicely. Very Happy

I think you should do it.
I trust you not to let other races influence your advice to others.

You can suggest basic things to all players. It's upto them if they want to accept it or not.

For ATSR2, when I saw some players take CE or UR or ARM or GR, I pointed out that it wasn't a good idea Very Happy

I trust me, too. But such a practice could taint the experience for someone if they find out later that I gave some player advice that I considered generic but turned out to be very effective against their particular race.

I'm more than happy to answer general or particular questions about race design in general or for this rule set. But I'm not comfortable looking at races and giving specific advice for that race.

I'm not in the game, so could do that - but I'm also not that experienced...

I think that a bit of test bedding and a good read of the strategy guide would be a decent marker. If you can describe *why* you have made the decisions you have made then you are probably in a good position to exploit those decisions.

There was a game - Fledgling Admirals that host informed all players about basics concepts of the game. Also, Altruist(host) checked all race files and gaved all of us neccesary comment on them.
This game is no-comm mostly HG game - as we cannot do pure HP/-f races, we all following HG strategy and concepts. Only PRTs adds some neccesary edge, dependant on individual player style of play.

Clarification about ludek's scheduling issue: his schedule keeps him from playing one day a week (either Tuesday or Wednesday, and it can change week to week). It won't be a problem in the early game, but it might be an issue after turns become more complicated and the game slows down to 50 hours per turn.

I propose this:
after the game slows down to 50 hours per turn, when a turn deadline falls on a Wednesday, I will add 24 hours to the deadline. That should prevent ludek from being in a schedule bind, but does not slow down the game excessively.

Players, please respond in this thread with your thoughts.

After we have come to an agreement regarding the schedule, I will set a race submission deadline.

No problem. Was just checking after a long break from the game. Noticed game paramaters and a couple of high skilled players that made it too hard to resist. Thanks.

Sadly most of the other high skilled regular players have been sucked into DD6 ... That's going to keep them busy for the next 6 months or so Razz
This did seem a nice game to join in the mean time.

Sounds fine to me.
Btw I prefer no comms but would play either
I am eager to get into game but I don't have a race yet so not a huge rush

Just for clarfication I can go 2 clicks on factrory production/factories/mines page when I use create new race(default Humanoid one).
I can't use predefined ones for a play (Rabbitoid , etc...) and then customize them.

LittleEddie made it clear earlier in the thread(see below). Best to use Humanoid and change race name and customize. Don't give away your race though the name you use. You could use other predefined races but if you keep the PRT and name then easy to guess.

Host might be waiting on players response to the scheduling modification before setting deadline. So far two in the public forum have given the ok. At some point either the host will assume no one has a problem with the proposed schedule or players will realize they need to give feedback. Wonder what come first.
